Former Roc-A-Fella Records signee Tru Life h
as been released from prison, after serving five years for an assault charge.
The rapper appeared in a video posted on Twitter shortly after his release, where he's in a happy mood, as he jokes about his clothes. "I thought I wasn't even gonna get the clothes last night, neither," Tru Life says in the clip. "I thought I was gonna come out looking like Jake from State Farm with Khakis on.
"
Back in 2011, the rapper was sentenced to eight years in prison, stemming from a 2009 stabbing that took the life of a 20-year-old named Christopher Guerrero.
Tru Life was originally charged with murder, but struck a plea deal, where he pleaded guilty to second-degree gang assault and got eight years. His brother, Marcus Rosad, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and received a 10 year sentence.
At the peak of his buzz, Tru Life was expected to be a cornerstone of Jay-Z's then-burgeoning, Latin-orientated Roc La Familia label, but he never released a project with the label.
