Lottery Winner’s Body Found Under Concrete in Florida???

Remember the convicted felon who won the lottery in ‘06 and recently went missing? Well Florida police deputies are claiming to have found the remains of his body:

Human remains found buried under recently-added concrete at a home in Plant City, Florida, are likely those of missing lottery millionaire Abraham Shakespeare, police said Thursday. Deputies made the discovery after a tip came in, suggesting investigators would find a body near a home in Plant City, according to CNN affiliate WFTV.

Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee said the body was slowly being uncovered. They are awaiting positive identification.

However, Gee said their investigation and information specifically led them to the area after they began to believe he might be dead because of “sinister means and motives.”

“Our indications were it would be there,” Gee said during a news conference Thursday night. Police on Wednesday had scanned the newly finished concrete slabs near the home on Wednesday and removed it. On Thursday, Gee said they discovered the remains buried five feet below the surface, and it appeared the remains had been there for awhile.

Shakespeare, a 43-year-old truck driver, won a $31 million Florida lottery prize in 2006. A year later, he won a court challenge from a fellow trucker who accused Shakespeare of snatching the winning ticket out of his wallet while the two were delivering meat to Miami restaurants.

Shakespeare’s family reported him missing on November 9, telling the Polk County sheriff’s office they hadn’t seen him since April. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said when their investigation began, they had hoped to find Shakespeare alive “and he truly had just wanted to hide from those who were asking him for money.” While they await identification of the remains, police said they would begin to shift their focus to a murder investigation.

“It’s painfully obvious he didn’t get there by himself,” Judd said. Gee said police from Polk and Hillsborough Counties were already working with prosecutors on the case and hope to bring to justice the person responsible for what they believe is clearly cold-blooded murder. “Somebody put that body in that hole,” Gee said. “This isn’t by any means just where we find someone on the side of the road. Somebody has obviously put him there.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if the body is actually that of Abraham Shakespeare, but regardless, this is just a crazy story altogether. What mfers will do over some scrilla…

Billy O'Reilly Compares Southside of Chicago To Haiti

One of the most controversial Fox News hosts in Amerikkka is making yet another discriminatory remark, this time comparing the Southside of Chicago to the embattled country of Haiti.

During a stop on Bill O'Reilly's “Bold Fresh Tour” with equally offensive, equally racist, equally pig-headed Fox affiliate Glenn Beck on January 23, O'Reilly tells his counterpart that the Southside of Chicago is a “disaster” much like the country of Haiti.

WHAT?!

“If you've ever been to the South Side of Chicago, I mean, it's a disaster. Alright? It's like Haiti. It's like — I've been to Haiti a couple times, and I support some charities there, but Haiti just never gets better no matter..."

Kiss Your Kindle Goodbye! Apple Introduces The iPad And This Puppy Does EVERYTHING

Thanks Steve Jobs! Now we know what we really want for Valentine’s Day! After a whole lotta rumor Apple’s Steve Jobs finally unveiled the iPad today. Look under the hood for details.

It’s a half-inch thick and weighs just 1.5 pounds, with a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS LCD display, and it’s running a custom 1GHz Apple “A4″ chip developed by the P.A. Semi team, with a 10-hour battery life and a month of standby. It’ll come in 16, 32, and 64GB sizes, and it’s got the expected connectivity: very little. There’s a 30-pin Dock connector, a speaker, a microphone, Bluetooth, 802.11n WiFi and optional 3G, as well as an accelerometer and a compass. There’s also a keyboard dock, which connects underneath in the portrait orientation, support for up to 1024×768 VGA out and 480p composite out through new dock adapter cables, and a camera attachment kit that lets you import photos from your camera over USB or directly through an SD reader. The device is managed by iTunes, just like the iPhone — you sync everything over to your Mac. As expected, it can run iPhone apps — either pixel-for-pixel in a window, or pixel-doubled fullscreen — but developers can also target the new screen size using the updated iPhone OS SDK, which is available today. The 3G version runs on AT&T and comes with new data plans: 250MB for $14.99 and an unlimited plan for $29.99 a month contract-free. Activations are handled on the iPad, so you can activate and cancel whenever you want. Every iPad is unlocked and comes with a GSM “micro-SIM,” so you can use it abroad, but there aren’t any international deals in place right now — Steve says they’ll be back “this summer” with news on that front.

It starts at $499 for 16GB, 32GB for $599, and $699 64GB. Adding 3G costs a $130 per model, so the most expensive model (64GB / 3G) is $829. The WiFi-only model will ship in 60 days, and the 3G models will come in 90. The only down side seems to be that it’s lacking a camera — so no video iChat here! Who is getting one???

Teen Pregnancy Rates on the Rise

According to a recent study, teenage pregnancy is steadily increasing:

The pregnancy rate among teenage girls in the United States has jumped for the first time in more than a decade, raising alarm that the long campaign to reduce motherhood among adolescents is faltering, according to a report released Tuesday.

The pregnancy rate among 15-to-19-year-olds increased 3 percent between 2005 and 2006 —the first jump since 1990, according to an analysis of the most recent data collected by the federal government and the nation’s leading reproductive-health think tank. Teen pregnancy has long been one of the most pressing social issues and has triggered intense political debate over sex education, particularly whether the federal government should fund programs that encourage abstinence until marriage or focus on birth control. The abortion rate also inched up for the first time in more than a decade — rising 1 percent — intensifying concern across the ideological spectrum.

The cause of the increase is the subject of debate. Several experts blamed the increase in teen pregnancies on sex-education programs that focus on encouraging abstinence. Others said the reversal could be due to a variety of factors, including an increase in poverty, an influx of Hispanics and complacency about AIDS, prompting lax use of birth control such as condoms. The report comes as Congress might consider restoring federal funding to sex-education programs that focus on abstinence. The Obama administration eliminated more than $150 million in funds for such groups, but the Senate’s health-care reform legislation would reinstate $50 million.

T.I. Sued For Copyright Infringement

Fresh out of jail for weapons charges and living in a halfway house, T.I. is seeing his name brought up in court documents once again.

The King of the South is being sued for his 2006 Grammy Award winning track “What You Know.”

According to court papers a man, Nathan Filby a.k.a. Motoe Blizzid, claims that “What You Know” uses portions of a song he released in 2004 titled “Reverence” leading Filby to file a copyright infringement lawsuit against him.

Filby claims that he distributed the song years ago to several people in the industry including an agent at Relentless Management, a management company believed to be affiliated with T.I.

In court documents he describes the songs as having the “same rate of harmonic range” and says the musical evidence is irrefutable down to the “virtually identical core harmonic progression of descending 4ths” and “nearly identical instrumental melodic lines in terms of pitch, shape, and rhythm.”

He ultimately wants a trial with a jury so that he may seek damages and a portion of all profits made from the song.

Trina Plans To Adopt Haitian Child

Miami rapper Trina seeks to get involved with the effort to aid the millions of people in Haiti who were impacted by a devastating 7.0 earthquake on January 12, that has killed at least 200,000 people.
According to Trina, she is seeking to contribute more than money and/or other relief by adopting a child from Haiti.
“I would like to contribute on a higher level for more personal reasons in addition to being ready to raise/nurture a child; by being involved on a day to day bases,” Trina told AllHipHop.
According to Trina, she had been considering adopting a child from the impoverished island nation, which has been bombarded with a series of natural disasters since.
Thousands of children lost their parents during natural disasters that have included flooding, hurricanes and now the massive earthquake.
Additionally, a series of aftershocks, including a 6.1 tremor, hampered rescue efforts last week and injured and killed more people.
“The tragic and untimely list of events that have happened in Haiti even before the recent ‘Earthquake’ have made me realized how blessed I am as a individual and I want to share that with a child that is a victim in this disturbing time,” Trina stated.
Trina, who is planning to release a new album titled Amazin’ this year, believes that she is at a point in her career where she is mature enough to handle the responsibilities of motherhood, in addition to juggling her famed rap career.
“I am in the financial position to adopt; therefore I am taking it into deep consideration at this time,” Trina revealed. “I have always admired other individuals for adopting children, not so much for their celebrity status, but more so because of the nurturing and invaluable change and joy it will bring to a child’s life."
The rapper stated that she also has family members from Haiti, which would make the adoption of a child a logical choice.
“The fact that I am considering adopting a child from Haiti is even more significant to me seeing that a great deal of adopted children that come into the United States are from ‘larger countries’ such as China, Russia and Africa,” Trina said.

Update: Death Toll in Haiti Reaches Over 150,000

This is so sad:
The truckers filling Haiti’s mass graves with bodies reported ever higher numbers: More than 150,000 quake victims have been buried by the government, an official said Sunday. That doesn’t count those still under the debris, carried off by relatives or killed in the outlying quake zone. “Nobody knows how many bodies are buried in the rubble – 200,000? 300,000? Who knows the overall death toll?” said the official, Communications Minister Marie-Laurence Jocelyn Lassegue.
Dealing with the living, meanwhile, a global army of aid workers was getting more food into people’s hands, but acknowledged falling short. “We wish we could do more, quicker,” said U.N. World Food Program chief Josette Sheeran, visiting Port-au-Prince. In the Cite Soleil slum, U.S. soldiers and Brazilian U.N. peacekeeping troops distributed food. Lunie Marcelin, 57, said the handouts will help her and six grown children “but it is not enough. We need more.” The Haitian government was urging many of the estimated 600,000 homeless huddled in open areas of Port-au-Prince, a city of 2 million, to look for better shelter with relatives or others in the countryside. Some 200,000 were believed already to have done so, most taking advantage of free government transportation, and others formed a steady stream out of the city on Sunday.
International experts searched for sites to erect tent cities for quake refugees on the capital’s outskirts, but such short-term solutions were still weeks away, said the International Organization for Migration, an intergovernmental agency.

Burger King will Now Serve a Cold Beer with a Whopper and Fries…(South Beach)

Since the recession hurt everyone, companies are getting creative with different ways to bring in more revenue. For the past 56 years Burger King has served their infamous Whopper with fries and a soda or juice. Now people will have the option of ordering a beer with their Whopper.
Details Under the Hood
Burger King Corp. said Friday it plans to open a Whopper Bar in the South Beach area of Miami next month.
To keep up with Miami’s night life, Burger King (BKC)’s new Whopper bar will offer American beer and Whopper sandwiches around the clock, staying open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It will be the chain’s first U.S. location to sell beer, and the restaurant will offer a delivery service for local customers, a walk-up window for orders on the go and an outdoor dining area.
“Not only is South Beach in our backyard, but the warm weather, famous nightlife and colorful personality of the destination make it a great fit for a Whopper Bar restaurant,” Chuck Fallon, Burger King’s North America president, said in a company statement.
Burger King’s bar will offer variations on its traditional Whopper sandwich, including an exclusive addition: the Black & Bleu Steakhouse XT. Customers will be able to choose from 20 sauces, displayed in a “visible toppings theater.”
And when South Beach locals pick up a 4 a.m. burger, they will also have their choice of Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors beer, including Budweiser, Miller Lite and Budlight Lime at a cost of $4.25.
“That adds a new element to the Burger King brand,” said Tom Forte, an analyst at Telsey Advisory Group. “It also creates a different mystique for going to a Whopper Bar versus a traditional restaurant.”
The Whopper Bar concept was introduced in March 2008, and the first bar opened a year later at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida. Burger King has also opened bars in Munich, Singapore and Venezuela.
Las Vegas, New York City and Los Angeles could be some of Burger King’s next Whopper Bar targets, the company said.
Forte said he won’t be surprised if beer pops up on the menus of other fast food restaurants as well.
“In the restaurant industry, if it works for one, others will try,” said Forte. “Other operators are watching from the sidelines to see how effective this is for Burger King and then may consider it.”
“Edgier” restaurants with the same core demographics as Burger King — such as Carl’s Junior and Jack and the Box — may be next to jump on the bandwagon, he said.

Outkast's Big Boi To Open Savannah Chapter of His Big Kidz Charity Organization

Outkast's Big Boi will launch the Savannah, Georgia chapter of his charity organization Big Kidz Foundation in February. The organization's mission is to support youth developmental projects and encourage cultural, musical, and literary expression. Big Boi states,
"It is my hope that the children in these undeserved communities officially become part of the national conversation that we have been left out of for years. The efforts within this program will not only stress education, but will stress exposure to culture.”
Helping to get the word out about the organization, Big Boi visited Savannah High School yesterday. Speaking to the youngsters, he said,
"I was born in Savannah and grew up here and I remember growing up and not knowing there were a lot of things for our youth and ever since then I've been speaking to them and I think that Big Kidz will get them prepared as well."

Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez Blames United States For Earthquake In Haiti

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is no stranger to radical theories but this time we may have to give him a “Ho Sit Down”. Chavez is trying to blame the U.S. for the earthquake in Haiti. Look under the hood for details.
Chavez claims the devastating earthquake in Haiti occurred as a result of the U.S. Navy launching what is known as a tectonic weapon. He says this time it was only a drill but the next time it will be used to destroy Iran.

We are well aware that the U.S. government has had a hand in plenty of horrific things, including the Tuskegee Experiment, the Iran Contra scandal and possibly the introduction of crack to inner-city America — but this seems like more than a stretch considering the military has their hands pretty full between Afghanistan and Iraq right now.

As previously reported, HipHopWired phoned into So Icey Entertainment to get a comment on the shooting which they quickly declined but now just three days after the incident, Waka Flocka himself is speaking out on the shooting.

Listen below as he phones in to Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9's “The Durrty Boyz” to speak on the shooting.

10 Worst Places to Live in the U.S.

There's nothing like raising your kids in one of the 10 most miserable cities in the U.S. There, you get the pleasure of paying really high sales tax, losing your job, probably losing your house and/or having a super long commute. Oh, and becoming the victim of a violent crime.
All that and more was what Forbes magazine used to come up with this year's 10 most squalid -- assuming it had a population of more than about 380,000.
Morning News already revealed the winner (actually, loser, right?): Stockton, Calif., which pushed Detroit off the misery pedastal, where that city sat at the top last year.
Here's the rest of the list.
2. Memphis (crime really did this city in)
3. Chicago (now that the Obamas are no longer there ...)
4. Cleveland, Ohio (the magazine cites snow, but come on. It's Cleveland! Wait, didn't Cleveland use to rock?)
5. Modesto, Calif. (unemployment and high car theft)
6. Flint, Michigan (unemployment, unemployment, unemployment)
7. Detroit (no longer the most miserable ... so this is actually good new for the Motor City.)
8. Buffalo, N.Y. (too much snow and a shrinking population)
9. Miami, Fla. (27 percent of the cities mortgages are delinquent. Uh oh.)
10. St. Louis, Mo. (ranked in the bottom half in all the categories. Still, the Arch! What about the Arch?)

Ja Rule Dismissal Thrown Out, Faces 3 Year Prison Sentence

Although it's been years since Ja Rule made a real statement in music, he's seeing his name brought up headlines, this time for a possible upcoming prison sentence.
A federal judge ruled against Ja, real name Jeffrey Atkins, in court after he asked for a dismissal of a gun possession charge.
According to Ja, the case has no substance because police had no right to search his Maybach after a 2007 concert performance in New York.
The police did complete the search however and found a .40-cal pistol that was unlicensed and after a tip from Ja himself, a small amount of marijuana.
The judge did allow a dismissal on Ja's admission to the substance but he'll have to report back to court in March to face the gun possession charge which carries a minimum 3 and 1/2 years prison.
See what happens when you're out there doing all that thug lovin? Looks like him and Lil Wayne may soon be cell mates.

Peaches And Queens… Atlanta Crowned Gayest City In America

Well no sh*t Sherlock, if this ain’t the most obvious sh*t we heard all week. Atlanta, GA(Y) was just declared the gayest city in America. If you can’t understand why Atlanta won the snapfest, look under the hood for the qualifying criteria…
Georgia isn’t the most gay-friendly state, but Atlanta is undoubtedly our gayest city—with 29 gay bars here, there’s a reason it’s dubbed Hotlanta. Atlanta’s several queer events include one of the nation’s largest Prides in October (returning to Piedmont Park this year), and MondoHomo, a May event celebrating art, drag, burlesque, film, and BBQ. The gay epicenter is Midtown, anchored by Outwrite Books, a giant gay bookstore bucking the national trend—by staying in business! Atlanta guys are hunky, the ladies are gracious, the gay sports leagues are seriously well organized, and its housewives (and their gay BFFs, complete with handbags and heels) are now camp icons. And who doesn’t love the sweet lilt of a Georgia accent on a knockout guy or gal?
Congrats to The Advocate for that brilliant newsflash. When your Checkers checkout girl looks like Timmy the Shimmy, it shouldn’t take great gaydar to figure out Atlanta is a mecca for ‘Mo’s.

Haitian Woman Rescued After Six Days Under The Rubble

As the death toll continues to mount in Haiti following last week’s devastating January 7.0 magnitude earthquake, there are still a few hopeful stories unfolding. This week a few survivors have been pulled from the rubble alive, pop the hood to watch the story of one woman who emerged nearly unscathed after being buried under a building for six days.

It’s heartwarming stories like these that help encourage rescue workers to keep digging, despite all the horrors they’ve uncovered so far.

10 Ways To Show Your Love Without Words

Good Day GLOBALHIPHOP readers! With the tragedy, strife and hard times we’ve witnessed on a global scale in recent weeks, without mention of the “recession,” it’s a battle to avoid consuming the negative and remain optimistic. Work is stressful for some while life is a headache for others. But if you’re someone who is fortunate enough to share your world with someone special to you, ask yourself this: “when is the last I let my baby know I love him/her?” Saying you love someone is a far cry from showing them and if actions speak louder than words then it’s better when acted upon versus simply saying it. It’s the little things that make a bad day turn blissful. It’s the thoughtfulness behind a kiss to the forehead that make a good day complete. There are many ways to enhance an evening or a rainy Sunday with your loved one! Ingredients needed: a warm open heart and a little effort. So take a look at these 10 tips to say “I love you” without saying a word!

Ban all Media - take a day and dodge all distractions from the outside world. No TV, no video games and no computers. Light candles and incense around the house and put on some music. This will force you to find a way to entertain each other. Be it board games or a deck of cards or simply getting lost in conversation under a blanket. You might learn something you never knew about him/her.

Photo Album - this will make for some good ol’ reminiscing! To relive good times that you’ve shared together is always a fun and makes for some good hearty laughs. So go through your photos and put an album together. If you don’t have many or any pictures together, make a point to take your camera with you places and add the photos to the album.

Mirror Messages - keep a dry erase marker in your bathroom drawer and leave notes for your boo. Even if you don’t live together it’s a fun way to stay in touch. They could read something as simple as, “Hey sexy! Have a good day, xoxo!” Or it could be something as racy as “I can’t wait to _____ you tonight.” Whatever it is, it will be appreciated and it will also spark good thoughts.

TiVo - Fellas, search through your cable listing and TiVo movies that you think she would like to watch or her favorite movies without her knowing. Ladies, do the same with the action flicks but go the extra mile and be sure to catch those games he mentioned he’s going to miss and the next time he comes over turn it on for him. He’ll love you for it.

Whisper Sweet Nothings - whispering will awaken all senses in no time for both him and her. Your boo with see you inching closer, then catch a whiff of your cologne/perfume, then hear and feel your voice vibrate in their ears if only just to say, “I missed you today.” It’s the little things.

Corny is the New Black - if you can make your lover laugh, you’re golden. Who cares what it is! Fellas, if it’s your falsetto renditions of her favorite songs that keeps her in stitches, do it! Dance - whether it’s a slow dance in the kitchen every once in a while or an 80’s dance contest. There’s never a bad time to be romantic or silly with your significant other. Chest to chest and cheek to cheek or doing the “running man” to Guy’s “Groove Me” are moments that aren’t easily forgotten.

No Sex - okay, it’s hard. But do you remember your teens when you would make out for hours without even thinking of having sex? If you enjoy kissing your loved one, then make a night of kissing and fondling through fabrics! It’ll be fun! And is brings a sense of innocence to your love.

Take a Walk - walking and talking are synonymous. There’s something to be said about fresh air and clarity. If your lady/man had a bad day, make the suggestion to take a walk! Let him/her let loose in the open as opposed to within four walls. Best not to contain the negative, literally. Afterwards, go home and do one of the above!

Play Chef - the kitchen is the nucleus of most homes where families and friends tend to hang out, talk, eat, drink and be merry. So agree on a dish or a recipe that neither one of you have tried and prepare it together! That way if it’s an epic fail, there’s no one to blame. If nothing else, you’ve tried something new together!

Being in a loving relationship is not always about lavish gifts, fancy dinners and expensive vacations. It’s all to often the little things and tender moments that are kept near and dear to a devoted heart and that’ll spark a smile or a random giggle in the middle of the day! So take some time and remember that it is, indeed, as simple as you make it!
