Faith Evans Cuts Deal In DUI Case

Singer Faith Evans, best known as the wife of the late Notorious B.I.G., cut a deal recently for a lesser charge, stemming from an August DUI arrest.
Evans was busted in Los Angeles in late August when cops determined that she was driving under the influence when the stopped at a DUI checkpoint.
She copped a plea in the case and received just 36 months of probation.
Evans worked out a deal with prosecutors in which she agreed to plead "no contest" to the lesser charge of reckless driving instead.
In addition to the probation, she must also pay $300 in fines, complete a three-month alcohol program, and must not drive with any measurable amount of alcohol in her system.

Former 2 Live Crew frontman, Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell, recently announced that he's accepted a position as assistant football coach for Miami Central High School.
The 49-year-old -- who once stood up against censorship in hip-hop with his rap lyrics -- was given permission by the Miami-Dade school system to coach the team, after receiving letters of support from community leaders, school officials and parents, reports.
"I'm happy and proud of what we accomplished [as 2 Live Crew], but that part of my life is over," Luke Campbell told local paper, the Bellingham Herald. "The entertainer -- I left him on stage."
As a member of 2 Live Crew, Luke music career was plagued with censorship suits and legal battles over songs like "Pop that P****" and "Throw the D***." And in the past decade, he's dipped his hand into the adult film industry, releasing DVDs and even maintaining an adult website.
However, the school's head coach Telly Lockette doesn't consider his raunchy past to be an issue when it comes to coaching football.
"I thought they [2 Live Crew] were funny. It was part of the times," Lockette said. "Sex sells. That's the way of the world. The kids know who Lil Wayne is, but they don't know who Mark Twain is. They relate to Luther very well. We joke with him about his past, but, you know, everybody deserves a chance to grow up. He's like a father figure to these boys. He understands the streets and how they're trying to find their way."
He's been coaching kids in his Liberty City neighborhood for years now, and offers a strict list of guidelines to his young players.
"I don't tolerate cursing or the n-word," Luke explained. "I tell them, 'Don't ever disrespect a girl because that makes you less than a man.' And 'Pick the girl who is responsible, not the one with Fs on her report card. Easy to get in, hard to get out. I've lived that life' ... I want to help kids be more compassionate, respectful, responsible. I tell them stories of what I did and what I should not have done."
18-year-old Miami Central wide receiver, C.J. Gaines, has been coached by Luke since he was 10. He doesn't see him as a celebrity though. "I don't see him as a rapper," Gaines told the Miami Herald. "I see him as a father."
Former couple, Chris Brown and Rihanna, took to the Internet recently to ask that the media and others stop bringing their highly publicized fallout and domestic dispute that played out before everyone.
Over the weekend, a Rihanna fan tweeted at the singer, asking that she stop talking about her rocky relationship with ex-boyfriend Chris Bown, which ended with a violent assault on February 2009, reports TheBoomBox.com.
She responded, agreeing with the fan 100%.
"AGREED! People won't stop asking about it! It's f***in' annoying! Nobody wants to relive that, but some ppl can't respect that!" Rihanna wrote (@Rihanna). "I get it. They wanna raise awareness to young girls! But it ends up just making me look bitter, pitiful, spiteful and angry!"
Brown had a hard time getting in the public's good graces since the 2009 incident, but finally turned things around with his smash single "Dueces" and Rihanna moved on romantically.
He too tweeted about the constant talk, asking everything to grow up and move on as well.
"Y'all starting to sound extremely childish! #teambreezy and #rihannanavy. It's pointless," Brown tweeted (@ChrisBrown) to their fan clubs. "Love team breezy & thank you rihannanavy for supporting ya girl.
"Never hold grudges or animosity.... No matter how negative, I will always love ......." Brown later added.
According to reports, the two ceased communication after things played out in the media.

Lil Kim Unleashes New Diss Track For Nicki Minaj Called 'Black Friday'

The war of the female MCs continue...
After Nicki Minaj finally threw a few jabs Lil Kim's way during an interview on Hot 97, in which she called Kim a "sore loser", the former Junior Mafia rapper hopped on a track to fire back at Nicki directly.
Earlier this month, Kim dissed Nicki during a show in Queens, but didn't mention her by name. Now, on her recently leaked "Black Friday" track, Kim goes the Young Money rapper directly.
Over Pharoahe Monch's instrumental for "Simon Says," Kim spits some harsh bars and both Nicki and her labelmate Drake: "This hood sh**, you and Drake ain't built for / This the sh** the other bitch almost got killed for."
She later accuses Nicki of being her modern day clone: "This ain't a championship fight, I been the greatest / See the fact is, what you doing, I did it / Lames tryna clone my style and run wit it / That's cool, I was the first one wit it / You's a Lil' Kim wannabe, you just hate to admit it."
The war between the pair has been heating up. After Nicki Minaj's "Roman's Revenge" hit the 'net, many speculated whether she was taking aim at Kim with a few of the track's bars. On it, she spits: "Nicki, she's just mad 'cause you took the spot / Word, that bitch mad 'cause I took the spot? / Well, bitch, if you ain't shittin', then get off the pot."
While she denied rumors, Nicki finally addressed the issue with Kim during an interview with Hot 97's Angie Martinez last week. She explained that although she's always given Kim her props, she will not bite her tongue if she continues throwing shots at her.
"It's one of those moments where you say, 'Don't play with me,' because I respect you, I love you, I've said it in every interview time and time again, and if that's not good enough with you mama, then it's something deep rooted in you," Nicki said. "Something is bothering you inside. That's your insecurity bothering you. [If] it's not Nicki Minaj, it would have been any girl that started poppin'. She picked a fight with Foxy [Brown], then she picked a fight with Eve, then she picked a fight with Remy [Ma], then it was Ms. [Voletta] Wallace, then it was Nicki Minaj. Everytime you in the news is 'cause you gettin' at somebody. Where's your music? Put your music out. When I see your name on 'Billboard,' that's when I'll respond to you. Other than that, goodbye."
Uh oh... will Nicki respond?

In the summer, news surfaced of a separation between Christina Milian and The-Dream, following by reports of a a divorce. Now, earlier this month, the couple reportedly reached an undisclosed divorce settlement.
At the time, details were unknown, but word is the amount was around $4 million.

The Game, Tony Yayo Exchanges Words Via Twitter -- Yayo Says 'F*** A Reunion'

Over the weekend, The Game extended an olive brand to 50 Cent and G-Unit, suggesting that the former associates put their differences aside ... and continue the working relationship they once had.
Via Twitter, the Compton rapper reached out to Fif' asking for "one phone call" to no avail ... on Twitter at least. And while 50 has completely ignored Game's communication attempts, G-Unit member Tony Yayo hadn't until Thursday (November 18) when he hopped on Twitter to respond to the L.A. rapper.
During a series of tweets (@TonyYayo), Yayo flat out disses Game while making it clear he in no way supports a possible G-Unit reunion.
"F*** a G Unit Reunion N****," Yayo bluntly tweeted. "@thegame u the puppet Henchmen had his hand up your ass for years. And now that u don't have hits out how u gon feed them Blood n****s.
"@thegame Everybody look at the old footage of him sayin 'Free Yayo' Dickridin. U called me for your first album Stripper. ... u bitch ass n**** u went from a Butterfly to a LA tattoo. U pro b got a tramp stamp on ur back stripper," Tony continued. "That's it I'm done for the day. See me when u see me Stripper. . ."
Game responded pretty quickly on his own Twitter page (@TheGame), explaining that he wasn't reaching out to Yayo or his G-Unit brother Lloyd Banks, but solely 50 Cent.
"1st of all @tonyyayo when I was talkin bout a G-Unit reunion I wasn't talkin to you 'YOU F***IN PUPPET" I was talkin to CURTIS MAN 2 MAN," the rapper wrote, before warning Yayo to watch his mouth. "@tonyyayo but keep 'TRYNA STUNT' & I will RE-BRAKE every bone in yo CAREER like I did da 1st time N****!

Dance Team Gets Detained By NYPD-FBI Trying To Make It To 106 and Park!!

Let’s start by asking WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!?!?!? Yesterday, during rush-hour, the Lincoln Tunnel in New York was closed for almost an hour when the Joint Terrorism Task Force was called after reports that six people in camouflage had fled their cars and were on foot INSIDE THE TUNNEL…smh
A dance troupe called “Club Envy” that consists of three young men, Ronnie Killing Jr., 20; Dontel Jabal Madison, 18; Darius Hutchins, 19, and three 16-year-old girls, Adaya Foster, Kenya Clark and Courtney King were held by the Homeland Security division to determine who they were and why they were sprinting thought the busy New York thoroughfare.
“They drew their guns on us at first,” said Landon Burse, 24, the group’s executive director who arranged the appearance on BET’s “106 & Park” segment “Wild on Wednesday.”
“It was terrifying. I was crying,” said Eternity Odom, 16, one of the four girls who perform in the group. The tunnel was closed for 45 minutes before cops realized the eight-member team was headed to the studio on West 57th Street. They eventually offered them a police escort to make the show. But it was too late — the hard-headed producers of the live talent show told them not to bother, sending them in a trail of tears back down the New Jersey Turnpike.
We can appreciate how badly these kids wanted to perform, especially on a national stage like “106 and Park,” and all the work they put in practicing their routine as well as actually making the long trip from to NYC
The group, called “Club Envy,” had set out from Jacksonville about 24 hours earlier with stardust in their eyes as they hit I-95 for the 1,158 mile trip north — a trip for which they spent three months holding local fundraisers.
Fortunately, the officers believed the group’s story and even made an attempt to contact BET and offer a police escort to the studio, however officials at BET said that they were too late and taping had already ended. There has been a commitment to reschedule the performance for a later date.
We’re glad to see that the officers attempted to help them, but in the future kids, stay in the car. The last thing you want to do nowadays is be misconstrued as a terrorist, some of these “law enforcement officers” are liiiiitle trigger happy if you catch our drift.

"@tonyyayo but keep 'TRYNA STUNT' & I will RE-BRAKE every bone in yo CAREER like I did da 1st time N****!
Game continued, commending Yayo for actually responding before sending a few insults his way as well.
"Sh**, at least you had the BALLS to respond to a n**** tho.... I guess you aint "HALF THE HOE" I thought you was," he wrote. "N****, you NEVER had a HIT & u bout da same age as CURTIS BLOW. If u wasnt suckin so much D*** over there u'd be cleanin SUBWAYS n the BRONX."
However, before concluding his response to Yayo, Game said that whenever the two do see each other, things can go either way -- good or bad.
"@tonyyayo But on sum REAL N**** SH** from me 2 u, Stay up homie & if we EVER cross PATHS... We can SWING IT whichever way you want. ONE LOVE," he wrote.
Game also sent off one last tweet to 50 Cent, leaving the option for the camps to talk ... if there's a change of heart.
"@50cent when you wanna HOLLA, u know how 2 find me," Game said. "@lloydbanks KEEP MAKIN HITS n****. @tonyyayo GROW UP n**** & maybe as MEN we can chop it."
The beef between the two camps has gone on for years now, following the release of Game's debut album, The Documentary. Six years later, it seems like Game is sincerely ready to put it to bed. Whether it turns into a reunion, it's looks like it's 50 Cent's decision.

Rick Ross, Young Jeezy Beef Heatin' Up -- Ross Addresses Recent Jabs From Jeezy

The tension between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy looks like its getting thick, despite Jeezy previously denying that he was taking aim on the Miami rapper.
In the summer, Jeezy dropped a few songs many believed were meant for Ross -- including "The Real BMF,""Death B4 Dishonor", and "The Summer's Mine." However, when questioned by MTV about them, he claimed they were not disses.
Last week, things changed when a viral clip of Jeezy began making its rounds. In it, the Atlanta rapper is seen walking around Miami, and while Ross' name never comes outta Jeezy's mouth, an interviewer asked him about the rumored beef ... and there isn't any guessing who he was talking about.
"Where your favorite rapper at?" Jeezy asks in the video. "I don't see that n****. I'm on the streets ... come out here, n****. Whatever n****s wanna do. I'm out here."
Obviously, it was brought to Ross' attention who addressed it during an interview with Tim Westwood on Tuesday (November), saying Jeezy "played himself."
"I actually got to see the footage of him walking on South Beach, down Collins Ave and he played his self," Ross said. "You gotta come across the bridge to Carol City ... to Little Haiti. That's where you get your issues -- Washington Ave.
"What's crazy about that is when they ask about my name, they still don't really have a direct answer," the rapper continued. "That ain't gangster at all. If you really got an issue, put it on the table like a G. Walking down Collins Ave, you played yourself. You'll get that took from you."

DMX diss Jay-z

Although they've recorded together in the past, DMX opted to diss Jay-Z during a performance in Arizona over the weekend.
Caught on video and uploaded to Youtube, the New York rapper stopped mid-performance to speak to the crowd at The Venue in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he called out Jay by name before going off on a rant about how dope he is on the mic.
"New York to AZ, n****s must be crazy. I'm the dog, f*** Jay-Z!" X said following his signature growl.
"What do y'all think is the state of the rapper you see right now? I mean, you know, I'm an artist, so I kind of have biased views. But I think most of you n****s suck," he continued. "I think they not only suck, but they suck d***. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we're real people."
As he continued, DMX elaborated about what exactly he doesn't like about Jay-Z, which he explains is all the material things he's always rapping about.
"We got all these n****s talking about Bentleys and mansions and pool parties," DMX said. "We don't got that sh** son! My take on this is, if you got Patron in your cup, good for you! You got a bitch you want to f***, good for you! You sittin' on 24s? Good for you! You got Lamborghini doors? Good for you! Because at the end of the day, I ain't got that sh**. And I don't really give a f*** if you got that sh**. Because you ain't givin' it to me!"

LifeStyles Takes On Trojan's Magnum With Larger 'KYNG' Condom

The makers of LifeStyles Condoms changed the condom aisle for good in 2008 with the release of SKYN, the first-of-its-kind, non-latex, polyisoprene condom. "The closest thing to wearing nothing," SKYN has received rave reviews since its first day on shelves.
Now, the company has announced the release of two new products, "KYNG" and "THYN", a part of "The LifeStyles Signature Collection." These two new designs join SKYN non-latex condoms to expand product choices in the sexual wellness category.
Fresh on the heels of recent studies showing that condom users are more likely to report breakage, slippage, and a decrease in pleasure due to improper fit, LifeStyles is increasing size options with the KYNG condom, expanding the LifeStyles size-range from Snugger Fit to KYNG.
"More sensitivity, better fit, greater stimulation -- these are the top demands of condom users today," said Carol Carrozza, VP of Marketing for LifeStyles Condoms. "We are so pleased with the consumer reaction to SKYN, and are excited to present our users with the added variety now offered through the LifeStyles Condoms Signature Collection."
The new KYNG condom is designed for men who need a fit larger than the standard condom size. It is extra long and extra wide, featuring the brand's most popular flared shape, and allowing for a more personalized fit. It is also lubricated with a reservoir tip providing extra safety and comfort.
The company hopes KYNG can take a piece of the larger fit category, currently dominated by Trogan's Magnum.
While KYNG focuses on size, THYN is a breakthrough in sensitivity, boasting a condom "so THYN you'll forget you're wearing it." 21% thinner than LifeStyles' standard latex condoms, the release of THYN also launches a packaging transformation for the LifeStyles brand, featuring a state-of-the-art transparent plastic box that reflects the nature of the product inside.
LifeStyles says all their condoms are triple tested to meet the highest U.S. reliability standards.
They are currently available at grocery, convenience and drug stores, as well as big box retailers throughout the country.

When disaster becomes the backdrop for childhood

  • By JoNel Aleccia
Amid a growing cholera epidemic, two weeks after a hurricane threat and 10 months after losing his left leg in an earthquake, 4-year-old Schneily Similien was turned away from school.
It happened last week, when school officials stopped the Haitian amputee and his father, Ducarmel, at the entrance of a local kindergarten in Leogane, 20 miles from the nation's capital.
Schneily's family owes the school money for tuition, about 35,000 Haitian gourdes, or the equivalent of about $875 U.S., and the principal said the boy couldn't return until it was paid.
"I thought he was joking," Ducarmel Similien, an unemployed carpenter, told msnbc.com through a translator.
    He wasn't.
That's just the latest challenge of grinding life in post-quake Haiti, where the aftermath of the Jan. 12 temblor has been exacerbated by further disasters. Msnbc.com has followed Schneily and his family since March, when the boy received a prosthetic limb to replace his left leg and foot, which were crushed by falling concrete.
Ducarmel took Schneily home from the school, back to the ragged tent shared by the family of five. The boy didn't mind; for him it simply meant more time to run and jump and ride his yellow bike with the training wheels. For Schneily, disaster is just the backdrop of his childhood.
But for Ducarmel and Schneily's mother, Darline, the struggle to forge a new life for Schneily and his brothers, Scarcely, 13, and Schmeider, 10, goes on.
Their tent was damaged when Hurricane Tomas barely bypassed Haiti in early November, brewing vicious winds that lashed the makeshift house and floods that sent scorpions swimming in with the water.
So far, the Similiens (the family name is also sometimes spelled Cimilien) have avoided the cholera epidemic that has now killed more than 1,100 people and hospitalized nearly 18,400 across Haiti. Ducarmel says they make sure to treat drinking water from a local pipe with chlorine, but he's concerned.
"I'm worried," Ducarmel said. "I don't want me or my family to have it."
Meanwhile, Schneily's artificial leg is much worse for wear: cracked on the bottom, making it hard for the boy to walk straight. When he takes it off, it stinks inside, his mother says.
And there's still too little money. Jobs remain scarce. The family is pinning hope on selling groceries and water from a small roadside store. Ducarmel was able to pay rent on a tiny shop, thanks to a donation* from an msnbc.com reader.
Still, for now, there's no way to pay for supplies to sell, and certainly no way to pay for Schneily's education. "Since the earthquake, I think a lot of things," Ducarmel said. "Sometimes I look at my son and I cry."
*The family has an account with a nonprofit bank for the poor with branches throughout Haiti. Donations can be sent through through Fonkoze by addressing payments to Ducarmel Cimilien, account number, 71-1-415431-01.

Behind The Scenes of Rihanna's Single 'What's My Name?' Featuring Drake

Rihanna gets close to rapper Drake on set of the music video for "What's My Name?," the chart-topping single from her fifth album Loud, due out November 16.
In the BTS clip, the two share Chinese takeout in an apartment scene before RiRi hits the New York City streets. She caps things off by throwing an impromptu dance party in Central Park.
"I've been waiting for the opportunity to work together for a long time," says Drizzy. "This is such a great song. I love the record, so I'm excited."

Will.i.am Outraged Over Release Of New Michael Jackson Album

Upon hearing the news of a forthcoming, new Michael Jackson album, Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am has publicly voiced his outrage over the recordings.
With the new album, titled Michael, due out in less than a month, Will expressed his anger over Sony Music's decision to release records by Michael without his approval for ... well, profit, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"Whoever put it out and is profiting off of it, I want to see how cold they are to say that what [Michael] contributed during his life wasn't enough," he told EW of the album. "He just wasn't any ordinary artist. He was a hands-on person. To me, it's disrespectful. There's no honoring."
While everyone has an opinion on what should be done with Michael's unreleased music, Will says he understands just how meticulous the late pop star was with his music ... and without his blessing, they shouldn't see the light of day.
"Michael Jackson songs are finished when Michael says they're finished," he said. "Maybe if I never worked with him, I wouldn't have this perspective. He was very particular about how he wanted his vocals, the reverb he used ... he was that hands-on."
The Peas' group member previously echoed the same sentiment to Billboard, in which he called Sony Music "freaking parasites."
Michael is due out December 14th, and will feature collaborations with Akon and 50 Cent.

Jay Electronica Signs To Jay-Z's Roc Nation

Hova introduced the New Orleans-bred producer/rapper, then explained why he signed him.

"It's not really a surprise of this next wizard we're about to introduce. I'm very excited to be watching this wizard do this thing," Jay told the crowd. "You guys have been supporting him in a major way, and he goes by the name of Jay Electronica. He's an official Roc Nation signee."

After accepting his intro to his new Roc Nation family, Jay Electronica said: "My name is Jay Electronica and my mama is here, so you can't tell me sh**".

Then, he hopped on the stage to perform his hit singles, "Exhibit A" and "Exhibit C."

Jay Electronica has built a strong buzz in the music scene over the last few years, and things got even bigger with the release of his aforementioned singles. However, he's yet to release a full-length album, but now, it looks like that will finally come.

For now, though, he plas to drop a new mixtape, titled Act II in February, followed by the release of his debut album, Act III.

A previously scheduled baby shower was to take place at the hospital Saturday.

Plies: Why They Really Hate You (The Education of Algernod Washington)

Like many of the commercially successful rappers coming out of the South, a release from Plies usually guarantees heavy radio and video play. However, I doubt that his latest release is going to be welcomed with open arms by the powers that be.
Last month, Plies (born Algernod Wahington) released one of the most thought provoking videos to come out of the "Dirty South" since the days of Outkast and the Goodie Mob, called "Why U Hate?" The song and video, which features the artist rapping with a noose around his neck, poses the question: "What is white America's beef with black folks?"
Although the self proclaimed goon's sexually explicit songs such as "Becky" and "Bust It Baby" have received heavy airplay, one has to wonder what reaction "Why U Hate" will get from hip-hop radio stations and video programs like BET's "106 and Park." The concern being, it might inspire Plies's fellow goons to begin to conduct in-depth analyses of America's race problem. In other words, it might make people think.
The question that Plies has posed is complex and can be answered on many different levels. However, to get to the root of white hate, you must go back thousands of years. According to Canadian writer Michael Bradley, in his book The Ice Man Inheritance: Prehistoric Sources of Western Man's Aggression, the problem stems from the hyper-aggressive nature that the European developed as a survival technique for coping with a frigid climate. This led to their need to conquer the whole planet.
Also during the Transatlantic slave trade the Europeans used the myth of racial inferiority to justify slavery. After the Civil War, according to WEB DuBois's book Black Reconstruction, Northern industrialists and members of the Southern aristocracy (the planters) manipulated poor whites into hating the newly freed "slaves", in order to exploit them.
It must be noted that much of the hatin' on black people is based on fear. Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, author of The Isis Papers, has suggested that Caucasians have a fear of genetic annihilation, believing that eventually, through the amalgamation of the races, the white race will cease to exist.
Also there is the fear of "the big pay back", where African Americans will seek revenge on whites for the atrocities committed against them. Over 200 years ago, as Bradford Chambers writes in Chronicles of Black Protest, Thomas Jefferson predicted that the "deep rooted prejudices of whites" and the "10 thousand recollections by the blacks of the injuries they have sustained" would produce a division that "would probably never end, but in the extermination of one or the other race."
Also, black psychiatrists William Grier and Price Cobbs wrote in their 1968 book Black Rage, "long after slavery, many whites are haunted by a vision of being oppressed, exposed to the whims of a powerful cruel black man."
It must also be noted that this fear also influenced public policy, as during the Civil Rights/Black Power Era, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover set up COINTELPRO (Counter Intelligence Program) to prevent the rise of a "black messiah" that could electrify the youth. Which leads us to why "they" hate political hip-Hop, since it has the potential to convert rap fans into revolutionaries.
However, white America does not really hate "gangsta" rappers like Plies, she created them. What they fear most is Algernod Washington, the business man who is rumored to have been valedictorian of his high school class and a former college student; the proverbial "fear of an educated black man." The Plies's of the world are just thugged-out versions of Frankenstein's monster, who have been programmed to never turn on their masters.
That is until one of them is de-programmed and starts making songs like "Why U Hate."
For most folks, Plies is an unlikely candidate to spark the hip-hop revolution. However, the same might have been said about Detroit Red before he became Malcolm X, or Eldridge Clever before he wrote Soul On Ice. We must also remember that many black leaders from Abubadika Sonny Carson to Bunchy Carter and John Higgins were former gang members. Even one of the fathers of hip-hop, Afrika Bambaataa, was a gangsta at one point.
As Jabari Natur, chairman of Solvivaz Nation, said: "The spirit of Black Liberation is in all of us." This is a chance for something to blossom in the millions of people who will watch the video.
What hip-hop needs is a movement to raise what the late chairman of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party, Fred Hampton, would call "antagonistic contradictions." We must aggressively question radio stations who will play Rick Ross' "BMF" every five minutes, but refuse to play "Why U Hate." Since many DJs claim to play negative hip-hHop because "that's what people are requesting", we should immediately start calling and tweeting radio stations, asking them why they aren't playing Plies' song. That way we can monitor the tweets and expose hip-hop radio's hypocrisy.
Perhaps this is a one shot deal for Plies and next week, he'll go back to being "the thug you love to hate." Time will tell.
But as Kwame Ture once said, "Every 'negro' is a potential black man."
I guess that goes for goons too...

Jodeci Member Devante Swing Arrested In Cali For Public Drunkenness

DeVante Swing, a founding member of '90s R&B group Jodeci, recently surfaced in the media, but not for his music ... for an arrest instead.
The 41-year-old singer (real name: Donald DeGrate Jr.) at a Subway restaurant in Burbank, Calif. on Sunday (November 7) noticeably intoxicated and belligerent.
DeVante was so wasted/drunk that he was unable to walk straight and crashed into tables inside the Subway location ... and it was all captured on film.
A concern citizen called the police at around 5 p.m., and then arrived they arrested Swing for being drunk in public and was hauled off to jail.
DeVante was held in the drunk tank for around six hours, until finally sobering up, and then released at around 11 p.m. that night.
He will not be charged with a crime DeVante isn't the only member from Jodeci struggling with to stay sober. Members, K-Ci & Jo Jo, starred in a TV One reality series called "K-Ci & Jo Jo ... Brett Favre Says He Will Not Return In 2011

Veteran NFL quarterback Brett Favre had announced that he would retire three previous times, only to return again when the new season began. But at 41 years old, and a not-so-stellar season for his Minnesota Vikings, is it time for him to hang it up?
At the beginning of the 2010 NFL season, Favre said this would be his last season after 20 years in the league.
"I can promise you this: Not that I have ever set out as a goal to play 20 years, it's 20 years and I'm done. This is the last year of my contract," he said during a new conference in August.
But was he speaking too soon? He has changed his mind in the past ... three times, so what's different this time?
The NFL Network asked him again on Thursday (November 11) to see how he's feeling now with eight games in the books this year. Will he play next season?
"No," said Favre, in an interview that will air in its entirety on Sunday (November 14) on the NFL Network, reports ESPN.
Although Favre helped the Vikings in a comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals last week, passing for a career-best 446 yards, his team is just 3-5 heading into Sunday's game.
Last season, he led the Vikings to the NFC title game, and hoped to take them to the Super Bowl this year. But now, they're struggling to just make it to the playoffs ... and that's the goal for what could be his final NFL season.
"That's my goal," said Favre.

T-Pain Stuntin': Cops First U.S. Rolls Royce Drop Head

When you're a superstar in music, you get a certain amount of perks in the world, one being money ... and with that money, you can buy stuff most can't.
With that being said, Grammy award-winning singer T-Pain splurges on all kinds of things. One being his extensive collection of custom top hats, and another being cars.
Last year, he showed up for a DJ Khaled release party in a custom, decked out hearse. And, most recently, he copped a 2009 Rolls Royce Phantom Drop Head, which he had customized by his own Auto Extremes tuning house.
Pain's Phantom Drop Head is special for a number of reasons, apart from it being a pretty rare car -- one that comes with a 6.75-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine with enough power to clock a 0-60mph time of 5.7 seconds. But it's also the first production model built for North America. The first one!
Thanks to Auto Extreme, equipped the Rolls with 24-inch rims to go along with the titanium hood, the all-leather interior, the teak-decking on the rear, and that unmistakable winged lady sitting on the hood of the car.
"That's how I roll," Pain said of the ride.

Lil Jon Set To Begin DJ Residency In Las Vegas

Lil Jon announced recently that he is set to begin a monthly DJ residency at Las Vegas' Surrender nightclub at the Wynn Hotel at the end of the month.
Although the southern-based musician is best known as a producer, he began his career as a DJ in Atlanta ... and according to what he tells MTV, he's been planning a return to the wheels of steel for some time now.
"I was a house DJ in the '90s actually," Jon told the music network. "House has always been a part of me. I love house music.
"When I DJ I like to give people memories," he continued, explaining what he wants to achieve at Surrender. "I want them to feel like it's New Year's Eve. I want them to release, to lose control and party, party, party! Surrender is an amazing venue and I cannot wait to make the people there get out of their mind!"
Jon's run in Vegas begins November 24 with the night being dubbed "Thanksgiving Eve With Lil Jon," where he'll be joining popular DJ Steve Aoki as a part of the club's line-up, along with a rotating list of reputable DJ's.

Young Money's Pre-Paid Credit Cards Coming, Website Launches

Last month, Youg Money's president Mack Maine was spotted on hip-hop blogs holding what looked to be a label-branded credit card. While details were scarce, he confirmed with blogger KarenCivil.com that the cards were part of a series of pre-paid credit cards set to drop in the coming months.
Well, they are finally set to drop.
HipHopDX.com found the website, which shows that the YM debit card will be available to the public very soon. Over at YoungMoneyDebut.com, the official credit cards are currently available for pre-registration, allowing for the notification when the card is released.
However, the cards shown do not use the likeness or endorse any of Young Money's artists. There's also no specific mention of a connection to Young Money as a musical entity, although the site vaguely promises exclusive deals on concert tickets and downloads.
"Get some wisdom for your wallet and take control of your financial future with Young Money Debit Cards," the website reads. "They are convenient, secure and a better alternative to credit cards since you only spend what you load."
The card, which does not have a release date published on the website, boasts the follow features:

Is 50 Cent A Member Of The Illuminati?

50 Cent was spotted recently sporting a Illuminati-branded fitted cap, sparking controversy among conspiracy theorists about whether the rap superstar was a member ... or not.
For those who aren't familiar with the Illuminati and/or have been living under a rock, it is a alleged secret society formed in the late 1700s, consisting of the most influential and powerful people in the world who all work together for one common goal: a one world government, aka a "New World Order."
It was also the organization who Tom Hanks was going after in his recent film, "Angels & Demons."
Following photos of him sporting the game, and theorists speculating whether or not he was connected to the elite group, E! Online took their questions to 50 Cent's rep but received no reply.
So, they asked noted author and secret societies expert, Jordan Maxwell, who said the likelihood that 50 was accepted in the inner-circle of the world's elite was ludicrous.
"The people who are really important on this planet you will never know who they are," Maxwell told E!. "They're not out doing hip-hop or [being] movie stars or anything else. They're just business people who are far more successful than anybody else."
As far as the possibility that Illuminati issues fitteds, Maxwell said: "Heavans no."
Aside from 50 Cent, other hip-hop stars rumored to be Illuminati affiliated is Kanye West and Jay-Z, both of whom have denied any affiliation.

Diddy's Flagship NYC Sean John Store Closing Up Shop, NBA Store Closing Too

After six years of repping urban gear on New York's ritzy shopping street Fifth Avenue, hip-hop mogul Diddy will be closing the doors of his flagship Sean John store at the end of the year.
According to reports, the brand's NYC retail location will official shut down at the end of December. However, Diddy is rumored to be opening new stores in both NY and Los Angeles.
Further details were unknown at press time.
Since launching Sean John in 1998, it has become a clothing brand boasting over $100 million in revenue each year, and has expanded into popular fragrances as well.
Back in June, Diddy successfully opened an earth-friendly, sustainable Sean John pop-up store on Los Angeles' Sunset Boulevard, as part of the Shop Future project. The shop featured gear from Sean John's spring/summer and fall 2010 lines, as well as accessories and its fragrance collections.
Before the store opening, in May, Diddy announced an exclusive deal with Macy's to distribute the brand at over 400 Macy's locations.
According to TheBoomBox.com, the deal may have caused the decline in sales at Sean John retail locations, which is rumored to be the reason for the closing its Fifth Avenue flagship store.
Sean John isn't the only Fifth Ave store set to close. The NBA store is also set to close its door in February 2011, but the league is reportedly searching for a new location. The NBA has had its location on New York's Fifth Ave since 1998.
According to NBA.com, the league had been asked for a sixfold increase in rent.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass said "it doesn't make economic sense for us to remain in the current location given the increased rent."

Lil Wayne Banned From Las Vegas' Wynn Casino

Lil Wayne may be a free man, and has been jet-setting across the country since being released from prison last week ... but there's one place he's not allowed to enter -- the the Wynn Las Vegas.
The rapper joined his star recording artist Drake onstage during a performance at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday night (November 6), Weezy was no-show at an after-party located in the Wynn Las Vegas, because they wouldn't allow him there.
a rep for the Wynn informed a member of Drake's entourage that Lil Wayne would not be allowed on the property -- and if he tried to enter, he'd be removed.
While exact details as to why he wasn't granted access aren't known, the source says that Wynn execs didn't want any trouble, due to Wayne's legal issues, one being no alcohol for three years as part of his probation.
Despite the ban, a rep for Wayne told reporters that he hung at the Palms Casino Resort and was not "scheduled" to appear at any events.
Wynn has not officially commented on the story.

Wiz Khalifa Arrested In North Carolina For Marijuana Possession

Buzzing rapper Wiz Khalifa was arrested in Greenville, North Carolina during the early morning hours of Tuesday (November 9) for marijuana possession.
The Pittsburgh rapper was in town for a show at East Carolina University, in which he performed in front of nearly 1,500 students who started a Facebook petition this summer calling for him to perform at their campus. The college kids pooled together $10,000 to bring Wiz to their school.
After the show, Wiz was stopped by campus police as he headed to his tour bus outside the venue.
"He was on his way with his band to his bus parked outside, and they stopped him because of a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the bus and the backstage area of the auditorium," John Durham, a spokesperson for East Carolina University, told MTV.
"They asked if he would cooperate with officers, and he agreed, and they went on his bus, and then he and nine members of his entourage were arrested on three charges related to marijuana possession," he continued.
During the search, police found more than 60 grams of pot, equivalent of about 2 ounces.
A fan-filmed clip of the arrest was uploaded to Youtube shortly after, showing the rapper being cuffed outside his tour bus and being carted away by police.
He was charged with a felony count of trafficking in marijuana, a felony count of maintaining a dwelling/vehicle/place for sale or storage of marijuana, and one misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, reports MTV.
Wiz was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center around 1:30 a.m., later posted $300,000 bail, and was released around 8 a.m.
Wiz' last tweet (@RealWizKhalifa) before his arrest came around 4:30 PM EST, where he wrote this message: "Smoke outs greenville, nc tonight. fall thru wit ur finest plant life."
The 23-year-old rapper (real name: Cameron Jibril Thomaz), whose current hit "Black and Yellow" is in heavy rotation around the country, is known for his love for weed. In a past interview, Wiz boasted about spending around $10,000 a month, just on marijuana.
After his release, the rapper hopped on Twitter (@RealWizKhalifa) and had this to say about the experience: "waken...baken...wrist still achin. thnx for tha love and support ... man, jail sux! but bein taylor'd doesn't."
The arrest doesn't seem to the bothering the young rapper whatsoever.

The Florida Classic 2010

The Florida Classic is a rivalry unlike any other. The nation's biggest black college football game, it pits Sunshine State rivals Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M University in a season-ending showdown that feels more like an annual celebration. Along with their world-famous marching bands, B-CU and FAMU make Orlando THE place to be in late November.

Tickets to the game start at just $10 and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets.
