Lil Reese Arrested In Chicago On Warrant

Rising Chicago rapper Lil Reese was arrested over the weekend when an arrest warrant popped up on his record.

According to the Chicago Tribune, an arrest warrant was issued for the 20-year-old (real name: Tavares Taylor) last week for criminal trespass, mob action and battery charges, stemming from an incident back in February.

Police found him at around 4 am on Sunday (April 28), when an officer on patrol spotted him sleeping in a car. He's being held in lieu of a $100,000 bail Sunday.

In May 2010, the rapper pleaded guilty to burglary charges and was given two years of probation.

Back in October 2012, Reese received backlash when a grainy video of him beating a young woman went viral.

Weekend Box Office: 'Pain & Gain' Muscles Its Way To #1 :::: #IntheMovies

While Iron Man 3 ruled among the rankings of the international box office, it was director Michael Bay'sPain & Gain that took #1 domestically.

The crime tale of bodybuilders -- starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie -- took first place with $20 million. The film is about a trio of bodybuilders in Florida get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong.

Oblivion fell to #2 with $17.4 million this weekend, while 42 comes in at #3 with $10.7 million.

Lionsgate's all-star comedy, The Big Wedding, tanked, debuting at just #4 with just $7.5 million. The ensemble cast includes Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Robin Williams, Susan Sarandon and Katherine Heigl.

Closing out the top 5 was The Croods, taking another $6.6 million, to take its total to $163 million.

New York Jets Cut Tim Tebow :::: #NFL

The future of Tim Tebow is unknown, despite being on the league's most popular players.

The New York Jets announced Monday (April 29) that they have cut the young quarterback after one season.

"We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow," coach Rex Ryan said. "Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward."

Tebow has yet to comment, but did quote a Bible verse on his Twitter on Monday afternoon, tweeting: "Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding...in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

According to ESPN.com, the Toronto Raptors have ramped up their pursuit of Phil Jackson to become the team's new team president.

With Sacramento Kings staying in Northern California, sources said that the Raptors are pushing for Jackson to joint he franchise, after it was regarded the Seattle group that was trying to buy the Kings were their biggest threat from preventing Jackson from seriously considering their pitch.

The Canadian franchise are said to aggressively pursue Jackson this week, believing that they are among Jackson's most attractive options, due to the team being under former Los Angeles-based sports mogul Tim Leiweke, whom have a longstanding friendship.

NBA great Michael Jordan tied the knot with former model Yvette Prieto over the weekend, while friends like Tiger Woods, Spike Lee and Patrick Ewing came to witness his important day.

According to reports, the ceremony took place on Saturday (April 27) on a private golf club in Palm Beach, Florida, and boasted around 300 guests. Entertainment included DJ MC Lyte, singers K'Jon, Robin Thicke and Usher and The Source, an 18-piece band.

Prieto is 35 and Jordan is 50. The six-time NBA champion and new wife met five years ago and were engaged last December.

Jordan has three children with former wife Juanita Vanoy. The couple's divorce was finalized in December 2006.

NBA Player Jason Collins Comes Out Of Closet :::: #NBA

NBA center Jason Collins announced big news on Monday (April 29), when he came out the closet in a story for Sports Illustrated.

The revelation makes him the first active player in a major American team sport to announce that he is gay.

"I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation," Collins wrote. "I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, 'I'm different.' If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand."

NBA commissioner David Stern released a statement, commending Collins for his announcement.

"As Adam Silver and I said to Jason, we have known the Collins family since Jason and Jarron joined the NBA in 2001 and they have been exemplary members of the NBA family. Jason has been a widely respected player and teammate throughout his career and we are proud he has assumed the leadership mantle on this very important issue," Stern said in a statement.

The NBA Players Association also released a statement in support of Collins.

"As Jason wrote, pro basketball is a family, and he has and always will be our brother. The NBPA is dedicated to fighting for the best interests of and uniting all players regardless of race, creed, color, age, national origin, or sexual orientation. Today is another example that we are intent on continuing that work," the statement said. "We congratulate Jason for having the courage to 'raise his hand,' as he wrote in his story, and start the conversation."

Jason's twin brother, Jarron Collins, played for 10 seasons in the NBA, last with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2010-11.

Microsoft Announces May 21st Unveiling For Next Xbox :::: #VideoGames

The official unveiling of the next-gen XBOX is coming... May 21st.

As leaked earlier this month, Microsoft made the official date announcement for its long-awaited follow-up to the Xbox 360. The unveiling event's date was sent out to members of the press Wednesday (April 24). It will take place at the company's HQ in Redmond, Washington at 10:00 am PST, and will be streamed live on Xbox Live, XBOX.com and Spike TV.

"We are thrilled to pull back the curtain and reveal what we've been working on," Microsoft spokesperson Major Nelson said in a blog post.

While there's much speculation over what the proposed XBOX 720 will look like and its features, nothing has been officially confirmed.

Since the Xbox 360 was released at the end of 2005 it has sold 76 million units globally and signed up 46 million Xbox live members.

Aaron Rodgers Signs 5-Year, $110 Million Contract Extension With Packers :::: #NFL

Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, will be a cheese head for the foreseeable future, as he has agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract extension with the NFL franchise, reports ESPN.com.

The deal will set the highest salary per season in NFL history, eclipsing the $120.6 million over six years the Baltimore Ravens gave quarterback Joe Flacco in March.

Rodgers is expected to make $40 million in 2013, some of which is bonus money; and will add five years on top of the two years Rodgers has remaining on his contract and will keep him in Green Bay through the 2019 season.

From 2013-15, the star QB will make $62.5 million, and $110 million in new money over the course of the extension.

Nicki Minaj To Make Acting Debut In Upcoming Cameron Diaz Film

After lending her voice to a character on 2012's animated film, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Nicki Minaj is set to make her official big screen debut alongside Cameron Diaz in the Fox revenge comedy, The Other Woman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the rap star is currently in the final stages of inking a deal to star in the upcoming film, which will include a cast of Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Kate Upton.

The comedy, directed by Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook), follows a woman (Diaz) who finds out that she is "the other woman" in an affair. She, then, teams up with her lover's wife (Mann) to get revenge on the cheating husband, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

If worked out, Nicki will play Diaz's opinionated assistant at a law firm, who has been married three times.

Jay-Z Hopes To Bring Top NHL Prospect Seth Jones To Roc Nation

Jay-Z is kicking things off in his foray into sports management with Roc Nation Sports, and 2013 NHL Draft prospect Seth Jones is at the top of the list as one of his first clients.

According to the NY Post's Page Six, Roc Nation Sports is hoping to land a deal with Jones to be involved in the star's marketing and branding.

The son of Nets assistant coach and former Nuggets player, Popeye Jones, is already repped by CAA, Roc Nation’s partner. If a deal is inked, Jones would then benefit from both sides of the CAA and Roc Nation partnership.

"When Seth comes to the NHL draft [in Newark, NJ] in June, his family, agents at CAA and Roc Nation are going to have a powwow to see if he'll sign with them," a source said.

Jones is such a touted prospect, he's expected to go #1, making him the first black player taken #1 overall into the NHL.

EA Sports officially unveiled the cover athlete for their upcoming Madden 25 game title, which is Hall of Fame running back, Barry Sanders.

After six rounds and a 40 million votes, Sanders beat out "New School" bracket winner Adrian Peterson by taking 58% of the final vote, as well as NFL legends such as Ray Lewis, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice.

Sanders will now appear on the cover of the 25th anniversary of the Madden NFL franchise, and is the first athlete ever to appear on back-to-back covers after sharing the NCAA Football 13 box with Robert Griffin III last year.

Indiana Pacers' Paul George Awarded 'Most Improved Player' :::: #NBA

Indiana Pacers forward Paul George reportedly spent last summer improving his game, and it paid off. This week, the NBA named him the 2012-13 Most Improved Player.

The NBA reports that George received 311 of a possible 1,080 points, including 52 first-place votes, from a panel of 120 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. He beat out Greivis Vasquez of the New Orleans (146 points, 13 first-place votes) and the Milwaukee Bucks' Larry Sanders (141 points, 10 first-place votes), who finished second and third, respectively.

During the 2012-13 season, George averaged a team-high 17.4 points, along with 7.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.8 steals. He was the only player in the league to record at least 140 steals (143) and 50 blocks (51). He also had 19 games with at least three steals, and 29 games with at least one steal and one block.

After accepting the league's Most Improved Player Award, George promised to work even harder to attain the biggest rewards of all -- an NBA title and perhaps an MVP.

"I think I can play at an MVP level. I think that's very much within reach," George said Tuesday (April 23). "For me, it's all about being consistent and having that aggressive mindset."

With the #1 overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher.

New Chiefs coach Andy Reid built his previous team, the Philadelphia Eagles, from the inside out, and plans to do the same in KC.

The #1 overall pick was down to Fisher or Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel.

Just three months ago, Fisher was not believed to be a top 10 pick. However, in January at the Senior Bowl, he proved he could shut down the best of the best defensive linemen. That week, coupled with his film, sold himself.

Harlem rapper Azealia Banks has been critical of her fellow musicians on Twitter, ever since breaking onto the scene in 2011 with "212."

Many of her beefs played out on Twitter, with the female rapper going at the necks of T.I., Iggy Azalea, Angel Haze, Baauer, and even A$AP Rocky. However, that's all changing.

On Wednesday (April 24), all Tweets from Bank's Twitter profile had been deleted. According to reports, she sent out message, explaining what would happen days before her profile went black.

"My days of twitter terror are about to be over. I have to turn over my password," Banks wrote (@AZEALIABANKS).

Apparently, Banks has possibly turned her Twitter profile over to a publicist, a person in her camp, or label rep.

Mike Brown To Return To Cleveland Cavs As Head Coach :::: #NBA

Coach Mike Brown is going back to Cleveland.

After a run as the Los Angeles Lakers' head coach, the Cavaliers and Brown have agreed to a five-year, $20 million deal for his return to Cleveland, reports ESPN.com. The franchise will have a team option for the fifth year, which is partially guaranteed for Brown. His hiring is expected to be announced shortly.

Brown was fired from the Cavs in 2010, despite back-to-back 60-win seasons. ESPN says he was the Cavs' top choice for the job and the only person they interviewed, but did reach out to Phil Jackson to gauge if he had any interest.

Sources said Brown already had turned down the Phoenix Suns' coaching position, and other offers were to come, so the Cavs wanted to move fast. Brown reportedly likes the Cavs, because of the presence of All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving and the club's substantial amount of salary-cap space.

Lil Scrappy Jailed For Refusing Urine Test :::: #IntheNews

"Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" star/rapper, Lil Scrappy, turned himself into authorities in Atlanta on Tuesday (April 23) after he refused to submit to a court-ordered urine test.

 Scrappy violated his probation back in March after a dispute over a pee test. Court officials said the rapper tried to turn in a urine sample that was cold to the touch, which they believed could have been tampered with. So, they asked for another sample, and he refused.

The court eventually issued a warrant for his arrest, and this morning, Scrappy turned himself in.

#Trina's Brother #Gunned Down In #Miami :::: #IntheNews

The brother of female rap star Trina, Wilbrent Bain, was murdered in Miami on Tuesday (April 23).

According to NBC Miami, Bain was fatally shot at around 9:30 am, after he was involved in an altercation with a man said to be on a bicycle.

Less than 24 hours later, Miami-Dade Police have arrested 27-year-old Ron Dobson who is currently being held without bail. He and Bain were reportedly friends, who live around the corner from each other.

Reports indicate that Dobson confessed, and faces a second-degree murder charge.

Trina has not yet spoken publicly about the issue.

According to ESPN.com, the Bobcats let Dunlap go on Tuesday (April 23), after a dismal season in which the franchise went 21-61 under Dunlap, finishing with the second-worst record in the NBA ahead of only the Orlando Magic. The previous season, Charlotte won just seven games during the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season.

Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins told ESPN he and general manager Rich Cho met with players and Dunlap before approaching owner Michael Jordan and asking him to make a coaching change.

Higgins said player input was "a part of the process, but not the only indicator."

Dunlap has micromanaging approach, which apparently didn't always sit well with some of the more experienced players on the roster.

"I just don't think he was a great fit," general manager Rich Cho said. "Probably best that we go in a different direction."

Sentencing Delayed In Lauryn Hill's Tax Evasion Case :::: #IntheNews

Lauryn Hill was scheduled to be sentenced for tax evasion on Monday (April 22), but her case has been delayed for two weeks.

The female rap legend appeared in a Newark courtroom Monday, revealing to the judge that she had signed a lucrative deal with Sony... and plans to pay off a big chunk of unpaid taxes.

Hill is currently facing prison after pleading guilty to tax evasion last June, owing the IRS back taxes on $1.8 million she earned between 2005 and 2007.

New York Knicks' J.R. Smith Named 2012-13 NBA Sixth Man Winner :::: #NBA

Explosive New York Knicks guard, J.R. Smith, has been officially awarded the 2012-13 Sixth Man Award.

The NBA says the 27-year-old received 484 points, including 72 first-place votes, from a panel of 121 writers and broadcasters to walk away the Sixth Man. The Clippers' Jamal Crawford finished second with 352 points, getting 31 first-place votes.

"I just wanted to show everybody that I could be a team guy and it's all about the team," Smith said at a news conference.

This season, Smith averaged 18.1 points in 80 games, all coming off the bench. During those 80 games, he had 29 games where he scored 20 points or more, while in three games, he scored 30 or more points.

"I'm so proud of him, in terms of buying into what we wanted him to do earlier in the season," coach Mike Woodson said. "And, it started this summer. I wasn't going to start him, coming into this year, and I knew that. And, he bought in. He didn't like it, but he bought in. And, it couldn't have happened to a better person, because he put in the time and he worked his butt off to get to this point, and he got rewarded for it. I'm happy for him."

Smith's team player mentality, and contribution off the bench, helped the Knicks win the Atlantic Division title for the first time since 1994. New York is the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference,

He is the third player in Knicks history to win the NBA's Sixth Man Award, joining John Starks (1996-97) and Anthony Mason (1994-95).

 the Maloof family recently sent a letter to the league asking to approve the sale of the Kings to a Seattle group, saying there is "significant distance between us and the Sacramento group."

Sent to the NBA's relocation and finance committee, which the Associated Press obtained Friday (April 19), the Maloof's letter said the Sacramento group originally matched the $525 million valuation for the franchise negotiated by Chris Hansen, who is heading the Seattle group.

Hansen then increased the valuation offer to $550 million last week.

, the 37-year-old singer/rapper has been renting a South Orange, New Jersey mansion since 2009. But, she stopped paying rent last month, so her landlord filed suit, forcing her to either pay up or get out.

Hill has yet to pay, so the landlord's eviction lawsuit continues.

Despite the eviction trouble, she has other worries. Hill is scheduled to be sentenced next week for tax fraud, which she pled guilty to last June, and now, faces several years in federal prison.

Jay-Z Sells Off Ownership Stake In Brooklyn Nets :::: #NBA

To pursue a career in sports management, via Roc Nation Sports, Jay-Z had to give up his ownership stake in NBA franchise, the Brooklyn Nets... and that's what he's done.

In a letter posted on his Life+Times website, the hip-hop mogul confirmed that he has sold his ownership stake in the sports team ... but says he remains a Nets fan.

"It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun," Jay wrote, who still plans to attend the games. "For Roc Nation Sports to function at its full potential, NBA rules stipulate that I relinquish my ownership in the Brooklyn Nets," he continued.

Dallas Mavs' O.J. Mayo To Opt Out Of Contract :::: #NBA

Dallas Mavericks shooting guard O.J. Mayo revealed this week that he will be opting out of his contract for next season, making him a free agent over the summer. However, he does want to return to Dallas.

 Mayo has a player option to return to the Mavs next season for $4.2 million, and hopes to return if a long-term deal can be reached.

"Getting something long term, locking something in is what I think is best for me," Mayo told ESPN.com Thursday (April 18), after his exit interview with coach Rick Carlisle and president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson.

The 25-year-old guard averaged 15.3 points, 4.4 assists and 3.5 rebounds with the Mavs this season, playing a team-high 35.5 minutes per game. He was the go-to guy with star forward Dirk Nowitzki out for 27 games with injury, but his production dipped significantly when Dirk return.

Mayo also said that he'd seriously consider other teams that might be a fit for him.

"I'm sure new teams have popped up on the list," Mayo said. "I need to talk to my agent [Rob Pelinka] and see what we can work out."

The Heat are now 15 games away from the Championship. This first game was a little bumpy at times, but the Heat put the Bucks in their place by beating them 110-87.
