Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr. has really become a force in Hollywood over the last several years, thanks to his monumental role as Tony Stark in the Iron Man franchise... but did you know, his portrayal of Iron Man has made him A LOT OF MONEY?
According to a recent report by GQ, the actor was paid an astounding $50 million to star in 2012's blockbuster, The Avengers, much more than anyone else on the cast.
"Isn't that crazy?" Downey told GQ. "They're so pissed. I can't believe it. I'm what's known as 'a strategic cost.' "
The film's cast, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) made between $2 million-$3 million.
And, Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) made between $4 million and $6 million, which means Downey Jr. made double their combined salaries.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide.
