Big #NBATrades: #MemphisGrizzles Send #RudyGay To #TorontoRaptors In Three-Team Deal :::: NBA

Rudy Gay

It was rumored to be in the works, and now it's completed. The Memphis Grizzles have dealt star swingman Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors in a three-team, six-player deal.
According to ESPN.com, as part of a money-motivated move to clear Gay's salary off their books, Memphis trades him to the Raptors, acquiring forward Ed Davis and veteran guard Jose Calderon in the deal, and also dealt backup center Hamed Haddadi.
Memphis shipped Calderon to Detroit, the third team in the deal, for Austin Daye and Tayshaun Prince, and in turn picked up a 2013 second-round pick from Toronto.
The Dallas Mavs were also interested in acquiring Calderon, but weren't prepared to surrender swingman Vince Carter, whom Memphis hoped to fill the void created by Gay's departure.

#Greatest #WR Of All-Time: #JerryRice Or #RandyMoss? Moss Says It's Him :::: #NFL

San Francisco 49ers receiver, Randy Moss, stirred things up this week, after making the claim that he's the greatest wide receiver in NFL history.
While legendary Niners WR Jerry Rice holds the multiple All-Time NFL records, Moss says he's made more of an impact. Hmmm...
"I don't really live on numbers. I really live on impact and what you're able to do out on that field, so I really do think I'm the greatest receiver ever to play this game," Moss said on Tuesday (January 29). "Back when Jerry was playing -- and no disrespect to Jerry Rice, because he's arguably the greatest. But for me to go out and revolutionize the game from a single safety to a 'Cover 2' to dropping four guys deep and still be able to make a difference, I really feel in my heart and my mind that I am the greatest receiver to ever play the game."
The comments garnered an immediate response from Jerry Rice, who is now an ESPN analyst. He pointed out that his impact on the game resulted in three Super Bowl rings. Moss is still chasing his first.
"I impacted the game by winning Super Bowls," Rice said. "Randy is still trying and I wish him the best, but I was very surprised that he said he's the best receiver to ever play the game. I leave that up to my fans to make that statement."
Not only does Rice have more Championship rings, his numbers dwarf Moss' by a longshot.
In 20 NFL seasons, Rice racked up 1,549 career receptions, 22,895 receiving yards, and 197 career touchdowns, leading the all-time list in all three categories. He also earned 13 Pro Bowls selections, made First Team All-Pro 10 times, won three Super Bowl rings and 1 Super Bowl MVP, and made the Hall of Fame.
For Moss... well, in 14 seasons, he has 982 career receptions, 15,292 receiving yards, 156 career touchdown catches, went to 7 Pro Bowls, and was named All-Pro 5 times. No rings for Moss.
Moss responded to Rice, saying he didn't want to debate, but stood by his comments.
"What I said is what I felt, and I don't want to get into a shouting match with Jerry Rice or anybody," Moss said Wednesday (January 30). "It's my personal opinion. [Rice] has the numbers, but I don't believe in numbers. In today's society, it's how we measure athletes or teams -- on rings. I don't base it that way. I changed the game. But I'm not trying to make it all about me."

Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, has already contacted detectives and said the singer is ready to tell them what happened to prove he didn't start it.
Geragos also is said to have video of the fight, which shows Chris not throwing a single punch, but neither does Ocean... in the clip. However, the footage captures only the tail-end of the altercation. The fight started in the parking lot, where no cameras caught the incident.
Chris' version is different from the accounts witnesses have told media.
Why did Chris leave the scene? His attorney has told him that in any situation where trouble is brewing, he MUST leave immediately.

Further Details Emerge In #ChrisBrown, #FrankOcean Fight :::: #MusicNews

Further details have emerged in the brawl between Chris Brown and Frank Ocean over the weekend.
While initial reports by TMZ.com pointed to a member of Frank Ocean's crew throwing the first punch, sources tell them that it was, in fact, Brown that swung first... but only after Frank refused to shake his hand.
The pair came face-to-face in the parking lost of Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 27) for the first time since exchanging words, via Twitter, in June 2011. Although the beef had been squashed, the animosity remained.
Frank reportedly told Chris, "This is my studio, this is my parking spot." From there, Brown tried to shake Ocean's hand... and that's when it things got ugly. After Ocean refused, the singer punched him. Brown, however, denies that he was the aggressor.
The fight would move into the lobby of the studio, where several things were broken. One witness said, "They managed to break almost everything in the room and scare all of the staff members working".
Police were called, and by the time they arrived, Brown had split. Ocean stayed, and spoke with authorities. While some reports said Ocean plans to press charges, nothing has been confirmed.
Ocean apparently parked in a prime spot at the studio. Sources said the parking situation at the studio is a hierarchy, with the bigger artists taking the better spots ... and it's been that way for years. So, Brown and Ocean both felt they deserved the main spot.
Stay tuned...

The news came during Boston's 100-98 double-overtime win over the Miami Heat on Sunday ,in which Ray Allen returned to his old home court for the first time.
"New guys are going to get an opportunity now," Boston forward Paul Pierce said. "These guys haven't had a chance to really showcase what they can do."

#MacMiller Says Criticism Of 'Blue Slide Park' Made Him Turn To #Drugs :::: #HipHopNews

Mac Miller is arguably one of the biggest independent hip-hop artists in the game, but with success, comes a whole lot of stress... which made him turn to drugs.
The Pittsburgh rapper made history with his debut LP, Blue Slide Park, when it became the first independently-distributed album to top the Billboard 200 since 1995. However, despite its success, the project received criticism... which Miller didn't take too well.
In an interview with Complex, for its online cover story, Mac Miller explained that harsh reviews made him become addicted to promethazine, better known as "lean."
"I love lean; it's great," he tells the magazine. "I was not happy and I was on lean very heavy. ... I was so f***ed up all the time -- it was bad. My friends couldn't even look at me the same. I was lost."
According to Mac, critics' attack on his character were the focus of his issues.
"A lot of the reviews were more on me as a person," he explained. "To be honest, that was even worse. You're 19, you're so excited to put out your first album, you put it out, and no one has any respect for you or for what you did."

Kobe Bryant Tops Forbes' List Of 'NBA's Highest Paid Players'

After dropping their breakdown of the "Most Valuable NBA Teams", Forbes releases their list of "NBA's Highest Paid Players" ... and Kobe Bryant tops the list.
According to Forbes.com, the 10 highest-paid players in the NBA will collectively earn $340 million this year alone, through salary and endorsements, with big-market players the most dominant: Seven of the top 10 suit up in New York, Los Angeles or Chicago, while two others hail from sunny, no-income-tax Miami.
Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant leads the list, as he's expected to make $59.8 million in salary and endorsements this year. His salary of $27.8 million is $7 million higher than any other player in the league.
Yea, it's a lot. The NBA's collective bargaining agreement limits individual player salaries to 35% of the team salary cap, which is $58 million this year. But players can also sign deals that are 105% of their previous salary even if it exceeds the cap. Bryant's case is expceptional because he is in his 17th season with the same team at 34 years old and is still playing at an exceptionally high level. The result: Bryant has signed a series of maximum level contracts with the Lakers.

#NewYorkKnicks Named 'Most Valuable NBA Team' By #Forbes :::: #NBA

Forbes released their annual list for "NBA's Most Valuable Teams" this week, and it's the New York Knicks who top the list at over $1 billion.
According to Forbes.com, the Knicks are the league's most valuable team, worth $1.1 billion, reclaiming the crown from the Los Angeles Lakers, who topped last year's list.
The franchise's value rose 41%, due to a $980 million renovation of Madison Square Garden that is expected to be completed this summer. The makeover resulted in an NBA-leading $243 million in revenue last season. Their operating income of $83 million leads all teams for a third straight year. One more factor is their better play. In 2012, the Knicks won a playoff game for the first time since 2001.
The Lakers dropped to #2 this year, worth $1 billion, which is up 11% from last year. The Lakers and Knicks are the first NBA teams with a valuation of 10-figures. Despite their disappointing record, the Lakers' revenue is expected to surge this season with the start of their new 20-year, $3.6 billion television deal with Time Warner Cable.
The Chicago Bulls land at #3 with $800 million, the Boston Celtics were #4 with $730 million, and the Dallas Mavericks round out the top five with $685 million.

By now, most people have heard of Snoop Dogg's evolution into Snoop Lion, a name he claims was anointed as part of his Rastafarian transformation during a trip to Jamaica.

Wailer claims the rapper is guilty of "outright fraudulent use of Rastafari Community's personalities and symbolism" ... and has failed to meet "contractual, moral and verbal commitments."
The leaders of a group called the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council (aka Rastafari Millennium Council) are also fired of a 7-page demand letter to Snoop, in which they tell him that "smoking weed and loving Bob Marley and reggae music is not what defines the Rastafari Indigenous Culture."
They demand that Snoop stop using the name "Lion", pay up the "financial and moral support", and want a public apology.
