Old Eminem 'I Get Money' Freestyle Leaks, Jay-Z & Kanye Get Called Out

The battle for album sales between 50 Cent and Kanye West in 2007, ultimately ended with West beating Fif'. Despite the loss, was without a doubt that 50 scored a monster hit with "I Get Money", which was recognized as one of the hottest tracks all year.
So hot, even Eminem hopped on it? Well, he did, but we never heard it until now ... four years later.
The new Em track leaked over the weekend, featuring the Detroit rapper spitting a freestyle over the 50 Cent instrumental, which seemed to be recorded before he went totally sober in recent years.
At the beginning of the track, Eminem proclaims his return -- which never came until 2009 -- before calling out Jay-Z and Kanye with a short bar.
"They keep on saying the same rappers are the best / Jay-Z and Kanye West," he spits. "Maybe they're just trying to distract you from the fact that I'm coming back / Or maybe it's cause I ain't black / Maybe it's because of that / Maybe it's because I'm the highest selling artist in rap."
(Listen to Eminem's "I Get Money (Freestyle)" right here )
The lines were obviously not meant as a diss, but rather a reminder to everyone that, when he tries, Eminem can probably rap circles around almost any rapper, and should be acknowledged as much, at least it seemed to be the way he felt at the time of the recording.
At press time, it's unclear when the track was recorded, and/or how/why it leaked after nearly four years since the release of 50's "I Get Money."

Lil Wayne Stopped, Searched By Federal Agents At Miami Airport

Lil Wayne just seems to attract the authorities these days.
The rapper was greeted by federal agents upon landing at a Miami airport this week, stopping him and searching him after he got off the plane.
law enforcement sources revealed that multiple agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency performed a contraband search on Wayne, who is currently on felony probation stemming from incidents involving drugs and guns.
However, they didn't find a thing on him, and let him go on his way without incident.
Unless Weezy was on a private jet, why would he be carrying any drugs?
Since being released from prison last November, word is the rapper is staying completely sober, as one of the requirements of his probation.
Hopefully, Weezy can keep it that way, so the fuzz don't find a reason to lock him back up.

Eminem Surpasses Lady Gaga As Facebook's Most 'Liked' Living Artist

Lady Gaga and Eminem are certified superstars in music, but which one would you say is bigger? More famous? And most liked?
If you go by the amount of fans who "like" their pages on Facebook, then it's Eminem, because the Detroit rapper recently overtook Gaga to become the most "liked" living artist on the social network.
Earlier this week, Em surpassed Gaga in fans to claim the title of Facebook's most-liked. At the time of this post, Eminem had reached 29,049,881 fans, while Gaga was at 28,971,489.
Reports said Em is averaging more than 500,000 Facebook "likes" a day, and could soon surpass none other than Michael Jackson to become the site's overall most-liked artist, according to Famecount, a site that tallies the "top social network stars worldwide."
The late King of Pop currently has over 29.1 million Facebook fans, but Em is closing in fast.
Despite his status on Facebook, when it comes to overall social influence, Eminem still trails both Gaga and Justin Bieber in total YouTube views -- though he recently became the third artist to crack the 1-billion-view mark -- and when it comes to total Twitter followers, his 3 million are barely enough to crack Famecount's top 20 musicians, where Gaga is #1, followed by the likes of Bieber, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Rihanna and, uh, Jessica Simpson.
At press time, he's the 19th most followed artist on Twitter, right above Snoop Dogg. On Facebook, Eminem and Gaga are followed by Rihanna and Linkin Park.
Eminem may see a spike in his social influence over the next few weeks, as he appears in Dr. Dre's recently released "I Need a Doctor" video, and made headlines when photos from the set of his upcoming "Space Bound" video — featuring porn star Sasha Grey -- spread virally.

Rihanna, Ciara Exchange Words On Twitter, But Squash Things Quickly

Two R&B/pop divas had it out on Friday (February 25), via Twitter, but things were squashed rather quickly.
Ciara and Rihanna had the net buzzing when they began exchange words on Twitter, after Cici said the two had an unpleasant run-in during her appearance on E!'s "Fashion Police" earlier in the evening.
"I ran into [Rihanna] recently at a party and she wasn't the nicest and it's crazy because I've always loved and respected what she's done with fashion," the singer said while speaking with Joan Rivers.
"I've ran into her before, but this time, it wasn't the most pleasant run-in."
Immediately after, Rivers chimed in, adding, "A bitch!", as Ciara laughed and responded, "You crazy."
Apparently, Rihanna either tuned in, or caught win of it quickly, before she responded on Twitter shortly after the episode aired. "My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u? #howrudeofme," she wrote (@Rihanna), right before Ciara shot back with: "Trust me Rhianna u dont want to see me on or off the stage."
"U gangsta huh? Haaa," Rihanna said in response, before adding: "Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of."
While things look like they may get a lot uglier, things were squashed before they could go any further, as Rihanna expressed her love for Cici.
"Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I'm heartbroken! That's y I retaliated this way! So sorry! #letsmakeup," Riri wrote.
Ciara agreed (@Ciara), saying she accepted Rihanna's apology and said they should chat in person soon.
"Rhi u know its always been love since day 1! Doing shows/everything. you threw me off in that party! Apology accepted. Let's chat in person."
And that was that.

Remy Ma Loses Appeal, Eight Year Prison Sentence Upheld

Incarcerated rapper Remy Ma lost an appeal in the New York State Court of Appeals on Thursday (February 24), upholding the original eight-year prison sentence she received, stemming from a 2007 shooting.
The decision by the state's highest court ended the rapper's (real name: Remy Smith)  attempt to overturn assault and weapon possession convictions that her legal team argue were the result of trial errors which lead to her being found guilty.
During her trial, the judge called Remy "a young woman whose anger is out of control." At the time of her sentencing, she cried after hearing the judge hand down the eight year sentence.
She was facing a maximum sentence of 25 years.

Judge Lifts Restraining Order On Chris Brown, For Rihanna

Chris Brown appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Tuesday (February 21), where a judge lifted the restraining order, originally instilled to keep him away from Rihanna, following the highly publicized assault against her nearly two years ago.
A judge downgraded the restraining order to level one -- meaning Chris and Rihanna can have contact, as long as he does not harass, annoy, or molest her.
Brown, his lawyer Mark Geragos, and Rihanna's attorney Donald Etra, all appeared at the hearing to witness the official ruling. Rihanna was not present.
"I would not have considered this unless and until Mr. Brown had completed the 52-week domestic violence program, and he did," Judge Patricia Schnegg noted during the hearing.
Etra said his client had no objection to the ruling.
Brown's attorney requested the removal of the order in late January, following the completion of a 52-week domestic violence counseling. His attorney said it caused difficulty in Brown's professional career, especially in making appearances at award shows and other industry events.
At the time, the judge did not approve the request, pending approval from Rihanna, who later agreed to soften the order.

Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose Cuddle In The Pages Of New Fader Issue

By now, everyone knows that Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose are an item. The two were recently on the pages of FADER magazine, looking very much smitten with each other.
Magazine photographer Ross Mantle recently spent time with Wiz during a week-long stretch in Los Angeles, where the rapper and Rose got very close during the first days of their relationship.
In candid photos (below and above), released on TheFader.com, the new couple are seen cuddling on a couch while Wiz lights up a joint on set of a music video shoot.
"He's pretty down to earth," explains Mantle. "I don't know if he's going to get a head about him later on, but he has a bit of a young ego. I think to be in the position he's in you have to have something like that to begin with."
FADER's #72 issue, featuring the rest of Wiz's photos, hits newsstands March 8.
Kanye West recently tweeted about his ex-girlfriend, not addressing her by name, writing: "Exes never change."
Wiz and Rose both attended Jay-Z and LeBron James' 5th Annual Two Kings event during NBA All-Star Weekend, said reports.
On the music side of things, the Pittsburgh rapper is preparing for the release of his major label debut, Rolling Papers, due out March 29.

Twitter Suspends Ubertwitter Mobile App & Several Celebs With It

Twitter started a war on Friday (February 18), when they suspended the use of the popular Blackberry app, Ubertwitter, and along with it, halted tweets some various major celebrities.
On Friday, Twitter claimed that UberMedia's Ubertwitter app, as well as twidroyd, two popular mobile apps for accessing the social network, had been suspended because they violated its policies.
"These violations include, but aren't limited to, a privacy issue with private Direct Messages longer than 140 characters, trademark infringement, and changing the content of users' Tweets in order to make money," Twitter spokeswoman Carolyn Penner told CNN Money.
UberMedia confirmed the suspension, but said that they have worked to comply with their policies are are currently rolling out new apps.
"The changes they asked us to make were very small," UberMedia CEO Bill Gross said late Friday in a prepared statement. "As a result, we have completed the changes, and new apps are currently being posted to their respective stores."
Due to the suspension, several celebrities using the app had been absent -- while on the go -- from Twitter. Some of then include Rihanna, Russell Simmons, Questlove, Clippers' star Baron Davis, and several others, all of whom tweet regularly from their Blackberrys.
As for "trademark infringement" accusation, UberMedia will also change the name of Ubertwitter to UberSocial, which Gross said the company would be changing on Friday.
Gross added that everything will be back online soon, tweeting: "As soon as Twitter reactivates, you will be live again."
Despite obvious competition, UberMedia told CNN Money this week that their company is not "in any way a competitive" with Twitter, and claimed the two companies have a "good relationship."

Snoop Dogg, Cee-Lo To Headline Redbull's Spring Break Soundclash Events

Spring Break is right around the corner, and Red Bull is making sure partygoers have a heavy dose of music whether you're in Las Vegas or South Padre Island, via their Soundclash event.
The energy drink giant will be presenting two unprecedented live music showcases, featuring first-time ever match ups between Cee-Lo Green and the Ting Tings in Las Vegas on March 12; and Snoop Dogg and Ghostland Observatory at Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark on March 17.
Red Bull Soundclash is a unique clash of sounds, styles and creativity, where two bands don't battle each other, but instead collaborate to create an innovative live music performance.
The show features two bands with different music styles (e.g. hip-hop vs. electronic) facing off on two stages positioned on opposite ends of the venue with the audience in the middle. In a series of four rounds, the bands perform various tasks, some rehearsed, and some improvised, to showcase the array of their musical abilities.
The format takes each band through a series of collaborative challenges that makes it less of a battle and more of a musical conversation. In round one (the cover), both bands play their own version of the same cover song. Then, round two (the takeover), begins with the first band playing one of its original songs and mid-way through the other band takes over, seamlessly finishing the song in their own style. The third round (the clash), highlights each band's musical versatility by having them perform songs in three different styles -- for example: country, reggae and techno/dance. The fourth and final round is full of surprises, as each act is allowed to bring on a special guest to join their performances.
Pre-sale tickets for each show are available now for $10 at RedbullUSA.com/Soundclash. Tickets for the Las Vegas show will be $15 at the door.
(outdoors at the MGM Resorts International property across from the Luxor on Las Vegas Blvd.) on March 12, 2011; and Snoop Dogg and Ghostland Observatory at Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark on South Padre Island, Texas on March 17, 2011. Pre-sale tickets for each show are available now for $10 at www.redbullusa.com/soundclash. Tickets for the Las Vegas show will be $15 at the door.

Tru Life Offered Plea Deal In 2009 Murder Case

New details in rapper Tru Life's murder case was revealed on Wednesday (February 16).
According to DNAinfo.com, the rapper (real name: Robert Rosado) has been offered a plea deal by Assistant District Attorney Linda Ford, where he would serve a 10-year sentence for a second-degree murder, gang assault and assault charges, stemming from the fatal stabbing of a man nearly two years ago.
Tru Life allegedly had a hand in the stabbing death of 20-year-old Christopher Guerrero during a fight, outside a Manhattan apartment building in June 2009.
A second man was hospitalized in the attack, with stab wounds. Both the rapper, 34, and his bother Marcus Rosado, were the alleged attackers.
Investigators said the incident followed a dispute outside Pacha nightclub just hours before.
His brother would get 12 years in the plea deal, but they would also have to waive the opportunity to appeal.
Tru Life's lawyer, Alan Abramson, told DNAinfo that the deal would still have to be discussed with his client. But if it wasn't accepted, the brothers will go to trial on the first Monday in March.
The rapper was arrested days after the incident, in 2009, and when he initially appeared in court, he entered a not guilty plea. He has since been held, pending trial.
Tru Life signed with Jay Z's label Roc-A-Fella in 2005. According to reports, he has since released him from the label.

The rapper started his record breaking campaign four hours after Oreo's Cookies, and easily took the lead, thanks to his more-than 20 million fans on Facebook (Facebook.com/LilWayne).

Oreo's victory was short-lived at the hands of Lil Wayne.

Waka Flocka Flame's Tour Bus Shot At In North Carolina

Waka Flocka Flame is one of four people who were questioned by police in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday (February 16), after gunfire erupted outside a car audio store sometime during the afternoon hours.
According to local media (WCNC 36), the rapper (real name: Juaquin Malphurs) and his entourage parked his tour bus in the packing lot of the Car Stereo Warehouse on Independence Blvd on Wednesday for upgrades and improvements, but instead got bullets.
Two vehicles pulled into the lot and opened fire on Waka's crew, hitting his bus at least four times, said reports. And, Waka's security team returned fire on the cars and hit at least one of the assailants.
"Everybody was ducking," a witness, who was inside the store, told WCNC. "They were scared and knocking each other over. It was crazy."
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police told the news station that one person was shot in the shoulder, and is currently being treated at Carolinas Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Police are currently in search of the two vehicles -- one was an older model, white Land Rover, and a newer model, white Dodge.
Waka's mother/manager, Debra Antney, told WCNC that her son is no gang member and had no involvement in the shooting. Waka, himself, sent out a tweet to fans, letting them know he was ok, shortly after the news broke.
"To my fans N world im good nothing is wrong with my health see yall in Cali for all-star #im1realassperson," the rapper wrote (@WakaFlockaBSM), before later adding: "Yo its crasy how the world hear shit and just add they spice to N run with with the bull #justlookinginmyphoneSMH"
Stay tuned as this story develops...
Waka is no stranger to controversy. Just last month, January 2011, the rapper was arrested on multiple charges -- including possession of marijuana and hydrocodone, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of probation for driving on a suspended license. All of this came after his Atlanta home was raided by police in December 2010, during which they were reportedly investigating a prostitution organization.

O.J. Simpson Beaten In Prison? Rep Denies Claims

This week, reports surfaced that former NFL great O.J. Simpson was attacked inside a Nevada prison and it was so bad, he was knocked out cold.
The report came from the National Enquirer, who claimed that a young skinhead inmate knocked Simpson to the ground, and punched and kicked him "to a bloody pulp" and inflicted "injuries so severe he secretly spent nearly three weeks in the infirmary before he recovered."
Why didn't it get out? The long-running gossip mag said that prison authorities have "done their best" to keep the beating a secret, and Simpson is now afraid to leave his cell.
According to USA Today, an official from the prison claimed the Enquirer's report about O.J.'s attack "totally bogus." Also, Steve Suwe, the public information officer for the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada, denied the claims in an interview with Game On!
The Enquirer says that Simpson is a "marked man" in prison, "ever since white supremacists overheard him brag about his sexual conquests of beautiful white women."
They quoted Simpson's former business partner, Bruce Fromong, as saying: "Unfortunately for O.J., a group of young skinhead punks were within earshot -- and they were enraged."

Snoop Dogg Invests In, Endorses Weed Deodorizer 'Blunt Magic'

It's no secret, Snoop Dogg loves the kush, as evident by appearing on Dr. Dre's new single. And now, with that love in mind, he wants to help his fans improve their own smoking experience ... with a new project called "Blunt Magic."
The rapper recently invested in the product, created by paraphernalia company VIP Ventures, which decreases odor and improves the taste of a blunt at the same time.
Blunt Magic is an all-natural, FDA-approved deodorizing spray, available in either blueberry or grape flavors. When you spray it on your kush, it nearly eliminates the typical odor emitted from the smoke and leaves you with a fruity aroma.
The bottles sell for $7 app.
Apparently, a press release was sent off, revealing that Snoop has acquired a stake in either the product, or company. It was unclear at press time.
"Roll 'Doggy-style' with Blunt Magic and see what it do. Check out our product online and in specialty smoke shops and let me know what you think," Snoop said.
The spray is available through the company's website, BluntMagic.com. The website boasts the phrase "Smoke with no smell."

Eminem Grants Rare Interview To Middle School Student

Eminem doesn't do a ton of press, but when he does grant an interview, it's usually with places he's done them with in the past, such as a huge magazine or TV network. But just recently, Em granted a middle school student a rare interview for her middle school paper.
According to the Detroit Free Press, East Hills Middle School eight-grader Annie Reed hopped on the phone with the music superstar last week for Em's first one-on-one interview since October when he covered Rolling Stone.
Her piece will run in her school's paper, the Cavalier Corner, this month.
Reed originally pitched her teacher an idea to do a biography on the rapper for her paper, but was instead told to track him down for an interview, not knowing that she would actually make it happen.
"He grew up in Detroit, he's one of the greatest rappers of all time, and I thought it'd be fun to write about him," explained Reed, who emailed Em's spokesman Dennis Dennehy after finding his contact information.
"I just thought, 'Wow, here's a middle school girl from Detroit who has some guts," Dennehy told the Free Press of his reaction to her inquiry. From there, Em agreed and did the interview with Reed last Thursday, where he spoke about how Detroit honed his rapping skills, what he listened to at her age, and what his favorite song was to perform live.
Of the experience, Annie said that Eminem sounded "just like he does on his records," and was humorous, engaging and genuine. She also said the rapper gave "really good, in-depth answers. I thought it was really cool how much he still loves Detroit."
500 copies of the Cavalier Corner will be published and will be available for free to students at East Hills Middle School before February 22.
Beginning as an idea for a biographical piece about Eminem morphed into a behind-the-scenes journey on how she landed the major interview. Her teacher, Kenny Gechter, expressed how proud he is of Annie, and that it is "definitely front-page material."
"As an educator, this kind of experience is something you dream about. A lot of people would have been intimidated, but she shot for the stars and got one," Gechter said.
Her next celebrity interview? Annie is hoping to land Olympic Gold Medalist, Michael Phelps.

Rihanna Agrees To Soften Restraining Order Against Chris Brown

Late last month, Chris Brown appeared before a judge in Los Angeles and, via his attorney, asked that the restraining placed upon him, barring him from being in contact with Rihanna, be removed.
However, the decision was delayed while Rihanna's attorney consulted with his client who wasn't in court during the hearing.
Well, apparently, Riri was cool with the request, somewhat.
According to a report by E! Online, the singer's lawyer, Donald Etra, said that Rihanna has agreed to allow the restraining order to be softened.
The restraining order could be dropped to a level one, as requested by Rihanna, which would allow Brown to have contract her, just as long as he doesn't annoy or harass her.
Now, Brown and his attorney will have to go to court to have the order officially modified by the judge.
Both stars were expected to be at this year's Grammy Awards at the same time, but it's not going to happen. Brown has a previous commitment, but Rihanna will be there, because she's already been confirmed as one of the show's performers.
When Brown requested the order be dropped, at the time, his attorney said it was because it could be a "problem with award shows."

Trey Songz, Magic Johnson Recruited By NYC Mayor For Program Aimed At Truancy

Trey Songz, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Get Schooled launched a campaign in New York City on Thursday (February 10) called "Wake Up! NYC", aimed at reducing truancy in New York City high schools.
The launch, which took place at Isaac Newton Middle School in East Harlem, was the beginning of a campaign rolled out by the administration of Mayor Bloomberg, attempt to get students who persistently skip class to start showing up more often.
Celebrities recruited by Bloomberg, such as Trey, have recorded calls that will be sent off to truant pupils starting next week. So, when NYC school kids skip a lot of school, they will be getting a wake-up call from someone like the singer.
In one of the phone messages recorded by Trey, he says, "What up, it's your boy Trey Songz. If you're a student, get your butt to school."
In addition to Trey, other celebrities such as Magic Johnson, Jose Reyes, Terrence J and Rocsi of BET's "106 & Park", and Big Boi have donated their time and voices to the cause.
To hear the full wake-up call from Magic, click here. And from Trey Songz, here.
The Wake Up! NYC campaign will begin with 6,500 students at the 25 schools, who have missed 10 or more days of school this academic year, each of which will receive a phone or email message inviting them to participate in the Wake Up! NYC campaign. After this introductory period, it will expand to approximately 250,000 chronically absent students citywide.
And, when students start improving their attendance, they will also receive congratulatory "good news" call.
"We're putting on a full-court press, using mass media and digital media to drive home the point that every student should be in school every day," Bloomberg said in a statement.

Chuck D Protests Immigration Law With Fine Art Collaboration

Where does racial profiling end when it's the law? This is only one of the many questions Public Enemy founder Chuck D poses with "By The Time I Got To Arizona," a fine art collaboration created under his specific direction that foreshadows the future of America if policies based on profiling continue.
For his first foray into fine art, the hip-hop legend worked hand-in-hand with artist Ravi Dosaj -- whose recent art project with RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan was named "The Greatest Painting Of 2010" by Village Voice -- re-engineering a variety of traditional 20th century American imagery to create an accurate portrait of a country eating itself.
Though the piece won't be shown publicly until early March, the concept behind the work is described as "a future Arizona border created in a sophisticated collage utilizing a cache of recognizable figures (created over the last 100 years) to show how our 'nation of immigrants' has been lost to legislation."
Hidden within the piece are more than 30 various figures, lyrics, and messages for viewers to find. Arizona, which takes its name from Public Enemy's classic 1991 song "By The Time I Get To Arizona", picks up where Chuck's recently released track, "Tear Down That Wall", left off, keeping the spotlight on what he feels is one of America's most important issues today.
Each piece comes with an authenticity placard, is numbered and signed by Chuck, and features his original handprints on the canvas in acrylic paint.
Only 500 drafts will exist in the world.
The set is slated for release March 4. For more info, visit TheArtofChuck.com, or LegacyOften.com.
P.E. frontman Chuck D has made a career out of saying the kinds of things that, even, twenty years later, mainstream America still isn't ready to hear. 1988's It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back album revolutionized music, had the entire world shouting fight the power, heralded hip-hop's "Golden Era", and has made every critic's best-albums-ever list since.

Two Women Sue Jim Jones Over Topless Scenes In Music Video

Two Texas women are reportedly suing Jim Jones over a music video he released late last year they appeared in topless, which they claim they were featured in without their permission.
Sharie Johnson and Samantha Stotts claim that the rapper's crew filmed them as they frolicked in the water on South Beach, then used the footage to promote his song "Summer Time."
While both women say they knew they were being film, they didn't give permission to use the footage in a music video.
"They knew they were being filmed," the women's lawyer, Taso Pardalis, told the paper. "But they didn't know they were going to be used in a video without their permission."
In the clip, Jones spits his verses while clutching a Champagne flute and playing with a stack of $100 bills, but then, it shows shots of the two women, topless.
The lawsuit, which was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court suit, names Jones, Sony Music Entertainment and others, and seeks to to halt the distribution of the clip, which has garnered over 30,000 views on Youtube thus far.
"They were prancing about in the water and in the moment, they kind of went along with it," Pardalis said. "But you can see one of the girls in the video cover up immediately when she realized they were being filmed."
At press time, it was unknown how much the women were seeking in the suit, nor had Jones commented.

Akomplice Clothing, Chace Infinite, Good Wood Team Up For Collabo Benefiting Africa

Streetwear brand Akomplice, rapper Chace Infinite (of Self-Scientific), and custom wood jewelry makers Good Wood NYC have teamed up for unique collaboration aimed at educating and promoting change about the world's global water and sanitation crisis.
The unique collaborative pack will be limited to just 65 pieces, total, and will consist of an exclusive track Chace Infinite recorded, which is a flip on D'Angelo's song "Africa"; a handcrafted box set containing an intricately carved Africa necklace from Good Wood; and an original t-shirt from the fellas at Akomplice.
100% of the package's profits will be donated to Pump Aid, an organization which has developed a cost-efficient water pump for sustainable water production in impoverished African communities.
Akomplice's Africa t-shirt will also be offered alone later this month. The design features a text-formed image of Africa on its front, enumerating sociopolitical issues affecting the continent; its back is brandished by each collaborator and reads "Donate 2 Africa." It will be available in red, white, green and black.
"The shirt is more than a fashion statement -- it represents courage, cohesion, and change. It is a tangible symbol of this project's support for Africa," a rep for Akomplice said.
Every year millions of people in developing countries die from a lack of clean water, and
hundreds of millions more are susceptible to parallel fates. Take a moment to look at the
hard facts. Unsafe water and poor sanitation create health, educational, environmental,
and social problems which could easily be prevented with the right tools.
"In alignment with Black History Month, it is not only appropriate, but entirely essential to remember our historical roots in Africa and reflect on this month's core celebrated values -- struggle, strength, ability and action," the parties involved said in a statement. "This project honors those who must endure a daily struggle for survival by taking action and giving them access to clean drinking water, sanitary plumbing, and most importantly greater opportunities in life."
The set will drop at 7PM on February 11th, exclusively through Akomplice and Good Wood NYC websites, at Akomplice-Clothing.com and GoodWoodNYC.com.
The t-shirt will also be available for purchase by itself at Akomplice retailers worldwide. This version (retail $30.00) is branded with an alternate back print. 50% of Akomplice's profits will be donated to Pump Aid on the globally distributed version.

Album Charts: Nicki Minaj Finally Hits #1 With 'Pink Friday', Surpasses 1 Million

Nicki Minaj was patient, and it finally paid off, as her debut Pink Friday finally peaks at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, climbing from no. 3 to the top spot in its 11th week out.
The album sold 45,000 copies, and also crossed the 1 million says mark, selling over 1.03 million since dropping in late November.
Pink Friday debuted at no. 2, and has consistently stayed within the top 10 for its entire time since hitting stores.
Billboard.com attributes Nicki's 18% rise in sales last week to her "Saturday Night Live" guest appearance, which received viral love. With her rise to #1, Nicki also became the first female rapper to reach that position since Eve's 1999 debut, Let There Be Eve...Ruff Ryders First Lady. Congrats!
A few slots down, at no. 4, is Bruno Mars' Doo-Wops & Hooligans, rising one spot by selling just under 32,000 copies; while Rihanna's Loud climbed to no. 5 this week with 29,000 copies sold, as she nears 900,000 sales; and Eminem's Recovery closed out the top 10 with 25,000.
That wraps things up this week. To cop any of these new releases, head over to Amazon.com.
According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Feb. 6) totaled 5.5 million units, up 4% compared to the sum last week (5.3 million) and down 18% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010 (6.7 million).

The Game Ordered To Pay $90K In Jewelry Case

The Game lost a battle in court last week, when a judge ordered him to pay over $90,000 for custom-designed jewelry he had made three years ago, but never paid for.
Los Angeles judged ruled in favor of jewelry company, Lemmerman's Inc., in which Game was ordered to settle his unpaid debt for seven pieces of jewelry, billed at $90,999.
The company said the rapper (real name: Jayceon Taylor) paid a huge chunk of that bill a few years ago, but didn't make another payment since. Now, they want what's owed, plus interest.
Lemmerman filed a complaint against Game last year, claiming the rapper ordered the following from 2007-2008:
  • a 14K white gold 36" chain with white stones for $15,000
  • a 14K yellow gold 36" chain with yellow stones for $15,000
  • a diamond stud for $4,000
  • a 14K white gold 5-row bracelet for $17,500
  • a 14K yellow gold 5-row bracelet for $17,500
  • two other gold "pieces" for $30,000
Game had yet to address the situation as of press time.

Dorrough's Dallas Home Raided By DEA, No Arrests Made

Rapper Dorrough, best known for his 2009 hit "Ice Cream Paint Job", had a rude awakening Tuesday (February 8), when authorities raided his Dallas home on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Reports said that 10 DEA agents kicked in the rapper's door early Tuesday morning, looking for evidence.
However, it's unclear if anything was found or if any charges were brought forth. An official word from authorities had not been answered at press time.
On Twitter (@DorroughMusic), Dorrough addressed the situation indirectly, writing "My day started off f***d up... Which means today will be a great day!"
In a statement, released from Dorrough on OzoneMag.com, the rapper claims agents found no evidence of drugs, nor could they make arrest following the raid.
"Although the home of the Dallas, TX native is lavish and complimented with vehicles to match, the DEA found no evidence and could not make an arrest after an elaborate investigation which may have been stereotype driven," the statement read.
According to the rapper's rep, "All they found were gold & platinum plaques ('Ice Cream Paint Job' sales) on the walls. Dorrough is anxious to get back in the studio to work and make more hits."
Aside from issues with local authorities, Dorrough just dropped a new mixtape with DJ Drama, entitled Gangsta Grillz: Code Red, currently available for download at DorroughMusic.com.

Birdman Wins $1 Million On Super Bowl Bet?

Before Super Bowl Sunday, Cash Money Records founder Birdman claimed to have bet $1 million in cash on the big game ... and apparently he won.
Following the release of Lil Wayne's Green Bay Packers ode, "Green and Yellow," Stunna rolled into Dallas last week, making at stop at K104FM radio station's office with DJ Khaled, letting everybody listening know that he had money on the game.
"I got a mill on the floor, who ever wants some, it don't matter who you is, you can get some," Birdman boasted.
"If you listen to us, you feel us, you understand? That's like, them zeros, when we go to clubs we don't get ones, we get hundreds. Give me a hundred in hundreds! A mill ticket man, figure it out."
Well, after the Green Bay Packers' win over the Steelers, Birdman bragged that he won a million on the wager.
In a tweet (@Birdman5Star), he wrote: "LETS GO PAINT THE TOWN RED... JUST CASHED IN A MILLI".
If he's telling the truth, Birdman won a cool million against whoever he bet with.

T-Pain Announces Plan To Leak 'RevolveR' Album

Lil Wayne Pays Off $1.13 Million Tax Debt

In the world of music, a ton of rappers seem to be feeling the crunch, especially when it comes to paying their taxes.
Reports surfaced recently that Nas owes a staggering $6.5 million in unpaid taxes, which has been piling up from the last couple years.
You rarely hear about these tax debts getting settled, but Lil Wayne did just that.
(who breaks most of these tax debt stories), Weezy (real name: Dwayne Carter) recently paid off a $1.13 million debt to the IRS, who had filed a lien against rapper last summer.
In a document, published by the paper, the rapper is shown to have paid off the debt last November (possibly shortly after his release from Riker's Island), and he's listed as a self-employed, small business owner in Miami.
"Small business" huh Weezy?
Last year, the IRS filed a $1,138,760 million dollar lien in Dade County, Fla., against the Wayne's charity, One Family Foundation.
He was accused of failing to pay taxes in 2004, 2005 and 2007. The same happened in 2008, when the IRS filed a $977,840 lien against the Weezy, which he paid off that same year.
It's no mystery Lil Wayne is getting money, maybe his accounting people should be on top of his taxes though.

Trey Songz Sued For $18 Million Over 'Bottoms Up' Track

Singer Trey Songz landed a hit when he nabbed Nicki Minaj for his hit single "Bottoms Up," but someone a producer -- who claims he originally made the song's beat -- wasn't given credit and now wants his cut.
Washington, D.C.-based production company, Doc Mob Records, has filed a lawsuit against Trey, Atlantic Records, Kodak, producer Kane Beatz and manager Gee Robertson, seeking $18 million for unpaid royalties.
Doc Mob Records, along with IHip Hop Music and Derrick Price, claim they hired producer Milton James, who goes by the moniker Tony Scales, to produced the track under their imprint.
James, who produced the track in Price's studio, later teamed up with Kane Beatz for additional production on the club banger, which was eventually used on Trey Songz' hit song.
However, when the album and song was released, only listed Kane Beatz as producer of the song.
Doc Mob Records claims that they attempted to halt the distribution of the record by sending multiple cease and desist letters, all of which they claim were ignored by both Atlantic and Trey Songz.
Kodak was named in the lawsuit, because photographic materials company used the track in an advertising campaign, which they were also not paid for.
At press time, Atlantic and/or Trey have yet to address the claims.
"Bottoms Up" first leaked in July 2010, with its accompanying video premiering the following month. It peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and was later certified double-platinum for sales upwards of two million.
It appears on Trey's fourth album, Passion, Pain and Pleasure.
