Ice Cube Teams Up With Director David Russell For New Film Franchise

Ice Cube has been doing his thing in Hollywood for years now ... and even had major success with his Cube Vision film company with movies from his Friday franchise.
Now, the rap legend has teamed up with Three Kings director David O. Russell to launch a new film franchise, which they describe as a Dirty Harry meets Death Wish type film paying homage to the '70s classics.
The pair are currently in talks with New Line Cinema to bring the films to the big screen.
While Russell intends to possibly co-write it, reports said if New Line gets involved, they'll want to bring another major writer in to get it started.
Cube, on the other hand, would star as a "plainclothes detective who's quick on the trigger."
Additionally, Cube has other film projects in the works. He is set to star alongside Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster in an upcoming film called Rampart, where he plays a hard-working cop looking to expose corruption within the LAPD in the early '90s. He's also has his new TBS series, "Are We There Yet?", based on the big screen film of the same title.
Cube is also promoting the release of his recently released album, I Am The West, which hit stores in September.
