After being charged with aggravated assault Thursday night (Feb. 6), following a standoff with police in Florida, the UFC has terminated fighter Thiago Silva.
According to ESPN.com, the 31-year-old Brazilian confronted his wife, Thaysa, outside of Pablo Popovitch Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Oakland Park, Fla. on Thursday. He then allegedly produced a firearm and told his wife, whom he separated with in 2012, that she had "10 seconds to bring out Pablo," or he would go into the gym and start shooting everyone.

Popovitch went outside to confront Silva, and fled into the gym shortly after and called 911.
Silva left the scene and barricaded himself inside his Fort Lauderdale home, where he was arrested following a non-violent standoff with a SWAT team.
He was initially arrested on two charges of attempted murder, but both have been reduced to aggravated assault with a firearm.
Following the incident, the UFC released a statement Friday (Feb. 7) announcing that they had terminated Silva's contract. He had been scheduled to fight at UFC 171 on March 15 in Dallas.
