Petition Aims To Stop George Zimmerman's Celeb Boxing Match :::: #InTheNews

Following all the media attention surrounding George Zimmerman's upcoming celebrity boxing match with DMX, a petition has been launched to stop it from ever happening.

The petition, created at WhiteHouse.gov, aims to halt the upcoming fight, outlining a number of reasons. Most notably, it says promoter Damon Feldman should not be allowed "to use racial tension to profit."

"Celebrity Boxing Promoter Damon Feldman & George Zimmerman are attempting to promote and profit off of racial tensions in America," the petition reads. "Damon Feldman has been known for fixing fights and taking short cuts in the past in bypassing state requirements for fighters to obtain a license to box. Mr. Feldman's past should be highly considered in this regard if Feldman is not going through the proper channels to ensure the safety of the participants it puts lives at risk.

"In addition, the entire idea of this event is to use racial tensions to lure people in to purchase the event," it continues. "This will only hurt America as it will continue to stir up racial tensions that have been on going in this nation for quite some time. No promoter or celebrity boxer should ever be allowed to use racial tension to profit."

At press time, the petition had garnered over 5,600 signatures, and needs over 94,000 to reach its 100,000 signatures goal.

DMX has agreed to participate in the boxing match against Zimmerman. However, financial negotiations have yet to be finalized.
