Blake Griffin Says He'll Use All-Star Weekend To Rest :::: #NBA

In 2011, L.A. Clippers star Blake Griffin was busy during All-Star Weekend, competing in the Rising Stars Challenge, the Slam Dunk Contest, and the actual All-Star Game. Three years later, he feels different about his time during the All-Star break.

He told ESPN Saturday (Feb. 8) that he understands why Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard wants to become the first player in history to participate in the all the events, including the Skills Challenge. But, for him, he'll stick to All-Star Game from now on.

"I wouldn't say it was a mistake [in 2011] because it was a great experience, but it's something I would never do again," Griffin said.

"For me, All-Star Weekend is about getting a chance to rest as much as anything," he added. "With the All-Star Game alone you still have obligations almost all day Friday and you have some kind of an event Friday night and Saturday's practice and appearances. Saturday night for me now has become the time where I hang out with my family and hang out with my friends and take it easy."

Griffin has been selected for his fourth consecutive All-Star Game, but has passed on participating in any of the weekend's other events.
