Talib Kweli Pulls Colt 45 As Sponsor From Kansas Show

Either Talib Kweli prefers another brand of alcohol, or just doesn't want to promote liquor to his fans. Whatever the case may be, the New York rapper recently pulled malt liquor brand, Colt 45, as a sponsor of some upcoming show dates.
In a couple of tweets on Tuesday (April 12), Kweli explained that Colt 45 had partnered with the venue of his April 20th show in Lawrence, Kansas to help in the promotion.
He says they did so without his knowledge, and that he doesn't approve of it.
"To my fans in Lawrence Kansas the Granada Theater has partnered with Colt 45 without my knowledge to promote the show. We shut that down," Kweli wrote (@RealTalibKweli). "I will be at the Granada in Lawrence Kansas, but Colt45 is no longer involved in the show promo. Thank yall (fans) for alerting me."
The rapper didn't elaborate on why he cut the Colt 45 sponsorship, at press time.
Kweli is currently touring in support of his latest album, Gutter Rainbows.
Colt 45 has been heavily promoting its new fruity-flavored drink, Blast By Colt, to the hip-hop market. Snoop Dogg is the most notable figure to come aboard as a main endorsee.
However, big Snoop has received some flack for helping push the alcohol brand's product, not only from major media publications, but also activists such as Minister Paul Scott, who put the rapper on blast in a vlog in March for "pushing poison on the black community."
Snoop has not addressed the criticism over his endorsement deal with Colt 45.
