Just seven months after acquiring David Lee in a trade with the Warriors, the Boston Celtics waived the veteran big man this week.
Because he was waived before March 1, he's eligible for the playoffs for any team that signs, except Golden State.
"We thank David for his contributions to our organization and wish him nothing but the best in the future," president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a statement Friday.
Lee addressed the decision on Instagram, posting a photo of himself alongside his former Celtics teammates. "Boston it's been real! Thanks to this group of teammates for keeping me positive and sane this last couple months. Best of luck to the squad and the whole Celtics organization the rest of the season," he wrote in the caption.
