Kanye West shook things up, once again, when he dropped the anticipated video for his The Life of Pablo single, "Famous".
Inspired by American painter and sculptor Vincent Desiderio's 2008 piece, titled "Sleep", Kanye's video -- which was unveiled on a 100-foot screen at the L.A. Forum last week -- was filmed over a period of three months and went through four different formats before its final cut was revealed. The highlight is the shot of a number of celebrities, including himself, naked and sleeping together in a large bed with white sheets.
The subjects include former U.S. President George W. Bush, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, current presidential candidate Donald Trump, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian West, Ray J, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner and Bill Cosby.
Speaking with Vanity Fair, Kanye explained his take on the controversial video.
"Maybe in some alternative universe me and George Bush could have been friends. I could have been his O.J. Simpson black friend on the golf course," he said. "It's not in support or anti any of [the people in the video]. It’s a comment on fame."
Kanye goes on to reveal that he got his wife Kim's co-sign on the video, which he says was very important. "[I say] a lot of lines other wives would not allow a husband to say. But my wife also puts up photos that other husbands wouldn't let them put up. One of the keys to happiness in our marriage is we’re allowed to be ourselves."
