Elton Brand Announces Retirement :::: #NBA

Former #1 pick Elton Brand has announced that he will retire from the NBA after 16 years.
The 36-year-old, two-time All-Star played just 36 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, and a total of four minutes during the playoffs. And, it seems he would rather call it quits than be used sparingly by another team.
"I could get in shape if I got the call but this looks like the end of the run for me, right now it is family time," he said in a statement to the Examiner.
Brand was selected with the No. 1 pick of the 1999 Draft by the Chicago Bulls, putting up huge numbers of 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. He was also named Rookie of the Year.
He was eventually shipped to the L.A. Clippers, where he spent seven seasons and consistently put up similar numbers and earned two All-Star Game appearances.
Despite his skill-set and production, Brand never had a deep run in the Playoffs. He made the Conference Finals just one time... last season with the Hawks.
