After losing Tony Romo to injury, the Dallas Cowboys acquire veteran quarterback Matt Cassel from the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday (Sept. 22), reports ESPN.
In the trade, the Bills will receive a 2017 draft choice from the Cowboys.
In Romo's absence, Brandon Weeden will be the starter, with Cassel installed as a backup.
Cassel is due $2 million in base salary this season and can earn up to an additional $2.15 million in playing-time and playoff incentives.
Romo has been placed on injury reserve, and will not be eligible to start until Nov. 22.
