Restricted Airspace For Drones … Map … For Miami
So we all know that drones have officially taken the over and IG photographers and drone hobbyist alike have embraced the new consumer drones with open arms. These drones can take you to heights you would never be able to afford on a consistant basis for most photographers. Hell, look at the above footage I took of the historic Biltmore Hotel with a DJI Phantom 2 and a GoPro 4. Crispy #noflexzone vibes in what was apparently a #noflyzone. And not by the Biltmore’s doing, but by the federal regulations that forces a 5-mile “No Fly Zone” radius around all medium and larger sized airports in the nation. Furthermore, national parks, Disney World and all of Washington D.C. are no-fly zones. But after noticing that my drone was acting a little funny and had a height restriction (which varies depending how far out or far in the no fly zone you are) I started looking up maps of restricted “drone” airspace.
And with that said, Don’t Fly Drones Here is your perfect source for listing and keeping up to date these No Fly Zones. You can check out the Miami map below showing all four airports (Miami International Airport, Miami Executive Airport (aka Tamiami Airport), the Opa-Locka Airport and the Homestead Airforce Base) and there’s respective restricted 5-mile radiuses of death (lol).
Also for Miami, you can’t fly in the Everglades (national park) or anything that’s considered Biscayne National Park, which is basically the South Dade coastline south of SW 184th Street.
