Yahoo Profiles West Kendall Native Nick Castemanos…LeBron’s Official Barber

Nick Castemanos Lebron BarberThough we did a feature on the barber that used to cut LeBron’s kids’ hair, Yahoo caught up with the barber from West Kendall that became the barber for LeBron’s hair. The barber’s name is Nick Castemanos, 29, and he started cutting LeBron after a chance introduction by Dwyane Wade in October of 2010 when ‘Bron was fresh into town before his four years as a Miami Heat player. And since then, he was an offe
red a full-time job by LeBron that required Nick to move to Cleveland. Did he take it? Well, he just moved in to his Cleveland apartment this past week so that pretty much settles it that he did. Nick also drops some behind the scenes and insight and some info regarding LeBron’s recovery after crashing his head (and getting some deep cuts in the process) into some sideline cameras during Game 04 of the NBA Finals.

  • “LeBron said, ‘Hey Nick, I really think you should come to Cleveland to work for me,’ ” Castemanos said. “I didn’t give him an immediate yes or no. But his mom said, ‘You better take it.’ “
  • “LeBron is very tedious about how his hair is cut,” said Castemanos, who has been a professional barber for 11 years. “The beard is the No. 1 thing. He leaves the top up to me. I leave him less bald. He’s my guy.
  • “With LeBron, you got to earn it,” Castemanos said. “If he likes you, that means you’ve earned it. He’s seen it all. He’s my toughest client. But it’s a challenge and an opportunity that I wanted.
  • “I was a little star struck at first,” Castemanos said. “But LeBron was very cool and welcoming. And this was after going through a lot of scrutiny for coming to Miami.”
  • “We get in little arguments here and there. He nicknamed me, ‘Sucka.’ He’s like a big brother to me.”
