Cleveland Cavs forward Kevin Love has opted out of the final year of his contract, sources told ESPN this week.
The big man notified the Cavs on Wednesday (June 24) that he will opt out of the final year remaining on his contract, which would be worth $16.7 million next season, and become a free agent.
It's no surprise to Cleveland, who expected the decision and plans to re-sign Love, says ESPN.
Additionally, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Celtics are among the teams planning to try to pursue Love as well.
He missed much of the Cavs' playoffs run, after suffering a dislocated shoulder against the Celtics.
