Beastie Boys' MCA Dead At 47

MCABeastie Boys member MCA (real name: Adam Yauch) has passed away. He was just 47 years old.
However, as of press time, details were unknown.
Yauch announced in mid-2009 that he was battling cancer of the salivary gland, which at the time, he called a "very treatable" form of the disease.
He underwent surgery and radiation therapy, and later stated that he was "hopeful" he had beaten the disease. However, in recent years, news of his health status were scarce.
So far, it's unclear if his death is related to his battle with cancer. Stay tuned...

Longtime industry friends mourned his loss on Twitter. "R I P Adam... I'm devastated," Rev Run wrote (@RevRunWisdom). "Praying for Adam Yauch’s family from the legendary Beastie Boys. Youll be missed!"
MCA is a co-founding member of Beastie Boys, who helped bring the hip-hop genre with their iconic 1986 album, Licensed To Ill.
Throughout their careers, they won multiple music awards, and were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year. However, MCA was not on-hand for the induction ceremony.
