50 Cent Talks Upcoming Fifth Album, Explains Why G-Unit Was Dropped From Interscope

50 Cent has been in Las Vegas as of late, showing support for longtime friend/boxer Floyd Mayweather's training camp, during which he stopped by Bootleg Kev's Las Vegas radio show and discussed several topics. During the interview, the hip-hop mogul talks about recording is upcoming, as-yet-titled fifth album and the Gangsta Grillz mixtape with DJ Drama coming May 15th. As of press time, Fif has set a July 2nd date for his official LP, which he says should remain as the days inch closer, but he'll continue recording up until that date. "My project is pretty much done, but I'm not done writing," the rapper explained. "When you say 'take it back,' you're not leaving any room for growth. You're staying 'Stay where you were ten years ago.' For me, it has that energy that they were attracted to on Get Rich or Die Tryin', all across the board," 50 continued. "I just think the way I articulated things on this project, my choices, are better. I think I'm better. I'm thinkin' it out a little more. They'll get a chance to see where I am." As the chat with Kev continued, 50 explained why Interscope Records dropped his G-Unit Records imprint. "The reason why G-Unit was dropped -- so that the general public understands: the reason G-Unit was dropped from Interscope records was because the deal I gave them was so well put together for them that they were to receive $750,000 in advance on the next albums -- each one of the artists. They gotta remove that in this climate of record sales." Also in the interview, 50 expressed his appreciation for Meek Mill, Mike Knox, and other Philly rappers, his rise through mixtapes, and which new rappers he's liking right now, as well as having his tattoos removed, writing for The Game's debut album, and more.
