Jay-Z Explains Brooklyn Nets Logo Design

The Brooklyn Nets unveiled their new logo for the 2012-13 NBA season in late April, which minority owner Jay-Z designed with inspiration from old subway signs in New York City, New York.
During a press conference in Philadelphia on Monday (May 14), where he announced the "Budweiser Made In America" festival, the hip-hop mogul explained his thoughts on the design of the new logo, saying he wanted to make something "classic"

"I wanted to make it really classic and strong, a throwback to Brooklyn and what we're about," Jay told MTV. "It's real gritty and we're not about flash -- well, sometimes. Just the roots of Brooklyn as this very bold, strong, simple logo.
"It was really a take off the old subway signs, if you look at the old subway signs they were in black and white," he continued. It was that strong, beautiful, iconic black and white. I wanted to pick something that would stand the test of time and be here forever."
The Jay-Z designed Brooklyn Nets logo is already in use. The official website (NBA.com/NETS) utilizes the logo, and its already branded on NBA merch.
