Robert Griffin III Named Cleveland Browns Starting QB :::: #NFL

After signing to Cleveland in late March, Robert Griffin III has been working hard in training camp... and has been named the Browns starting quarterback.

The team announced the decision on Monday (Aug. 8).

"It's time. Robert has earned the right to be named the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns," new Browns coach Hue Jackson said in a statement. "Since he was signed back in March, Robert has made it clear through his actions that he is willing to do everything that has been asked of him to earn this role. Throughout this process he has gained the respect from his teammates, the coaching staff and the entire organization that is necessary for him to lead our offense and really the entire team."

During game, RG3 has been battling Josh McCown for the starting job... and has apparently, has earned it.

Griffin was released by the Redskins in early March, after a difficult couple of seasons.

He was chosen with the No. 2 pick of the 2012 Draft by Washington, and went on to be named Rookie of the Year and made the Pro Bowl. However, a series of injuries derailed his career, and last season, lost his starting job in Washington to Kirk Cousins.

After both sides moved on, RG3 signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the Browns, who are in desperate need of a starting QB.
