Rihanna has landed a role in the upcoming sci-fi film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
Director Luc Besson made the announcement on Instagram, posting a photo of Rihanna, along with the caption: "RIHANNA is in VALERIAN!!!!! ...and she has a big part!! I’m Sooo excited!!!"
According to Variety, Rihanna will join a cast that includes Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan and Clive Owen.
The film centers around time-traveling agent Valerian, who is sent to investigate a galactic empire, alongside partner Laureline. It's based on Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres' graphic novel.
Production begins in France in January, with the movie hitting theaters on July 21, 2017.
Rihanna previously starred in 2012's Battleship and also lent her voice to the animated blockbuster Home.
