Nets Waive Former No. 1 Pick Anthony Bennett :::: #Sports

The Brooklyn Nets waived former No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett on Monday (Jan. 9), reports ESPN.

The forward was taken with the first pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. But after just one season for the Cavs, he was traded -- along with 2014 No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins -- to the Timberwolves in a three-team deal that brought Kevin Love to Cleveland.

After, Bennett was waived by the Timberwolves in September 2015 and signed with Toronto, where he played in the NBA D-League and 19 games with the Raptors. He was ultimately waived by Toronto in March 2016.

In 23 games for the Nets this season, Bennett averaged 5.0 points and 3.4 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game.

He currently has career averages of 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
