NFL Bans Kanye West’s Adidas Yeezy Boost Cleats :::: #Sports

Adidas shook things up in football this week, when they gifted NFL players pairs of Yeezy Boost cleats and they laced them up on the field.

Reigning Super Bowl MVP Von Miller debuted the Yeezy BOOST 750 cleats during pre-game warmups last Thursday (Sept. 8), while stars like DeAndre Hopkins and Adrian Peterson played in the Yeezy 350 model over the weekend.

Following the buzz, Adidas rolled out the cleats at retail. But despite all the headlines, especially on sneaker blogs, the NFL has "banned" the Yeezy cleats on the field.

According to ESPN, Hopkins was fined $6,000 for wearing the "Turtle Dove" Yeezy 350 cleats during the Texans' game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday (Sept. 11), because it violates the NFL's uniform policy, which calls for cleats to have a solid base color unless pre-approved.

Hopkins says he will no longer wear the Yeezy cleats in a game again unless West himself pays the fine.

Will Adidas and Kanye step up and pay the fine? After all, when Michael Jordan was fined by the NBA for wearing the Air Jordan 1 in 1985... Nike picked up the bill. The controversy fueled sales, and today, Jordan Brand is a multi-billion dollar company.
