Eagles Name Carson Wentz Their Starting QB :::: #Sports

Days after trading Sam Bradford, the Philadelphia Eagles have named rookie Carson Wentz their starting quarterback for Week 1.

Coach Doug Pederson said he will start Sunday (Sept. 11) versus the Cleveland Browns. "Everybody feels like this kid is ready to go and we drafted him to take on the reins and it's something now we are prepared to do," he said.

Wentz played in just one preseason game, before suffering a hairline fracture. Obviously, he's recovered and will be ready to start next weekend.

The Eagles took Wentz with the No. 2 pick in the 2016 Draft in April. During the offseason, the team insisted that Wentz would sit, because he needed to develop further, but apparently, they had a change of heart.

Earlier this week, the Eagles traded presumptive starter Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings.
