Mariah Carey is coming to Empire.
Ahead of her upcoming E! docu-series Mariah's World, the pop star has been tapped to guest star and perform on the third season of the FOX series, the network announced Monday (Aug. 9).
However, Carey will not play herself. She will play Kitty, a "mega-superstar" who will collaborate with Jussie Smollett's character Jamal Lyon. According to Variety, she will play a mentor role, helping Jamal "dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough."

The third season of Empire will also feature appearances by Kid Cudi, Taye Diggs, Sierra McClain, French Montana and Birdman.
Empire returns Oct. 5, while Carey's episode will air Oct. 5.
