Gucci Mane opens up about drug addiction in an in-depth profile published by the New York Times this week.

He continues, saying the rapper lifestyle eventually turned into him being under the influence all the time, whether it be alcohol or drugs. "In hindsight, I see it for what it was: I was a drug addict... I was naive to the fact that I was numb," Gucci says, before revealing that he went through extreme withdrawal while in prison. "Your body just craving lean bad. Stomach tore up, can't think straight. Just mad at the world. Temper so short, so violent, so aggressive. So just rude and toxic".
Once the withdrawal passed, Gucci Mane says his focus shifted to getting healthy, losing weight and educating himself. He says he read books by Tony Robbins and Deepak Chopra.
Gucci Mane is currently prepping his first post-prison album, Everybody Looking, which drops July 22.
