While he awaits trial on a murder charge, Troy Ave breaks his silence from behind bars with a brand new mixtape, titled Free Troy Ave.
The tape boasts 12 tracks, including the previously released single "Chuck Norris (Hoes & Gangstas)".
Ave also addresses last month's deadly shooting on the intro, saying: "I'm innocent. It ain’t the end of Troy Ave, not at all. This is just the beginning."
The rapper was arrested and charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, in connection with the shooting that took place last month at NYC's Irving Plaza at T.I.'s concert. During the shooting, three (including Ave) were injured, while his bodyguard, Ronald "Banga" McPhatter, was killed... and he pays homage to him on the mixtape cut, "Banga (RIP)" and "Intermission".
"I lost my best friend and the sad part about it is I ain’t realize he was my best friend until I lost him," explains an emotional Ave. “And that sh*t hurts worse than these bullets when I got shot.”
