Microsoft held a briefing ahead of E3 2016 on Monday (June 13), announcing its Xbox One successor, dubbed the Xbox One S.
Touted as the "smallest Xbox yet", the new console is essentially a shrunken version of the original Xbox One, 40% smaller than the first version. It also sports a "robot white" colorway, while doing away with the bulky power supply, among other upgrades.
Additionally, the Xbox One S includes a few improvements overs its predecessor, including 4K Ultra HD video support (including 4K Ultra HD Bluray) and HDR capabilities for both gaming and video; and USB ports has been moved to the front for easy access, along with the controller pairing button, and there’s a new built-in IR blaster.
An upgraded version of the Xbox One controller is also included with new textured grips on the back and the addition of Bluetooth, which both adds more wireless range and allows you to use the controller wirelessly with a Windows PC.
The Xbox One S will be launched in a special, limited edition version in early August with a 2TB hard drive for $399. Two standard versions will be available soon after: a 500GB edition for $299, and 1TB for $349.
