Axl Rose Trying to Get “Fat Axl” Memes Removed From Internet :::: #Music

Once a photo is used as a meme, they almost never go away. Just ask Michael Jordan.
Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose is hell-bent on having a meme poking fun at his weight completely removed from the Internet. According to TorrentFreak, he has issued a DMCA takedown notice to Google to remove the memes, which are all over the web.
On May 31, several takedown notices were issued, specifically referencing a photo of Rose taken at a concert in Winnipeg, Canada, in 2010. The photographer, Boris Minkevich of the Winnipeg Free Press, however, was not aware Axl wanted the images removed.
"Copyright image of Axl Rose. Please be advised that no permission has been granted to publish the copyright image so we cannot direct you to an authorized example of it," the notices sent on behalf of Rose state on the Lumen database.
When the picture of an out-of-shape Rose performing during a 2010 show began circulating, the Internet began making memes out of it, with food puns and Guns N' Roses lyrics. One says "Welcome to McDonald's", while another says "Sweet Pie O' Mine" -- both parodying classic GNR hits.
The meme has become known by many as "Fat Axl."
So far, Google has yet to take down the pictures, which are currently showing up in Google's Image Search.
