Adidas previously teamed up with Parley to introduce a 3D-printed sole unit made from ocean plastic.
Today, they return with a new concept for World Oceans Day: an environmentally friendly take on the Adidas Futurecraft 3D sole unit, made from recycled polyester and gill net for its construction. Introducing a first of its kind runner, the design utilizes Parley's signature Ocean Plastic, which is made up of coastal plastic waste from the Maldives and illegal deep-sea gillnets retrieved by partnering organization Sea Shepherd.
Starting this week, from June 8 (World Oceans Day) through July, fans can take part in an Instagram contest by uploading creative videos that pledge their support for Parley's Ocean Plastic Program. The winners, limited to 50, will be chosen after July 31, while full rules for the competition can be seen via the adidas and Parley social media channels.
