Nike Expanding World Headquarters
Nike recently unveiled plans to expand its World Headquarters in Portland, OR.
With a target date of 2018 set for completion, the expansion will allow the company to scale its development of innovative products, while securing its position as the biggest sportswear brand in the world.
"Every day at Nike we dream up new ways to inspire athletes to expand their potential," Nike CEO Mark Parker said in a statement. "To do that, we relentlessly evolve how we inspire our own teams and design environments that foster chemistry and collaboration. Our expanding World Headquarters reflects the best of Nike's culture — a place where we obsess the athlete and invent future products and experiences for consumers everywhere."

The expansion efforts will add another 3.2 million-square-foot of office, mixed-use and parking facilities to campus.
The Nike Campus opened in 1990 at One Bowerman Drive on land purchased in 1984. Two years later, the completion of the Nolan Ryan Building marked the company's first site extension, while a third wave of construction, completed in 2001, doubled its footprint. Incremental development of both buildings and land has remained constant over much of the last decade.
The architecture itself takes inspiration from human movement, speed and the strength and energy of competition, all central to Nike's core mission. A beacon serves as a campus center while spanning structures radiating from the tower pay homage to Nike’s namesake, the winged goddess of victory.
