Months after being reinstated, Jon Jones will finally get a shot to reclaim the title he was stripped of nearly a year ago.
The UFC has announced that Jones is scheduled for a rematch against current light heavyweight titleholder Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23 in Las Vegas.
Jones (21-1) hasn't fought since Jan. 2015, when he successfully defended the 205-pound title via unanimous decision against Cormier.
While he was set to face Anthony Johnson, he was stripped of the title in April and suspended indefinitely after he was arrested on hit-and-run charges in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Jones was eventually reinstated in October, and hasn't fought since.
As he faced discipline, Cormier and Johnson faced off at UFC 187, with Cormier claiming the title via submission.
