Marshawn Lynch fans are still wondering if he will retire this offseason, though his tweetsure seems to point to it. But if he does, he'll go down as one of the best running backs in history.
By the numbers, as crunched by ESPN, the 29-year-old NFL star has some of the best numbers among running backs in the post season.
After going to Seattle via a mid-season trade with the Buffalo Bills in 2010, he rushed for a league-high 51 touchdowns from 2011-15, six more than Adrian Peterson. He also had at least 1,000 yards rushing and at least 10 rushing touchdowns in each of his first four full seasons with the Seahawks, tied for the third-longest streak in NFL history behind LaDainian Tomlinson (eight) and Shaun Alexander (five).
As for post season numbers, he ranks among the best, with just seven players in NFL history having rushed for more yards in the postseason than Lynch's 937 -- including Emmitt Smith, Franco Harris, Thurman Thomas, Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, Terrell Davis and John Riggins.
In the playoffs, Lynch recorded six 100-yard rushing games, a total that's eclipsed only by Davis and Smith, both of which had seven 100-yard rushing games in their postseason careers.
Nicknamed "Beast Mode", Lynch has accumulating 2,659 rushing yards after contact over the last five seasons, second to Peterson's 2,776 yards after contact. In the post season, he gained 488 yards after contact in the postseason from 2010-15, 270 more yards after contact than the next-closest running back.
