Details were unknown, but likely of natural causes, given his age.
Wanzer played nine seasons in the NBA with the Rochester Royals and helped to guide the team to the 1951 NBA championship, according to ESPN.
He was also a five-time All-Star, who averaged 12.2 points and 3.2 assists in 568 regular-season games.

Wanzer was a career .802 free-throw shooter and led the NBA in the 1951-52 season with .904 percent.
He also served a player-coach with the Royals from 1955-58, finishing with a 98-136 record.
