Kanye West recently told Vanity Fair that "sweatshirts are f*cking important." With that said, writer Gary Warnett dug a little deeper into the garment in a short doc called "The History of the Hoodie." He finds that sportswear brand Champion created some of the first iterations of the hooded sweatshirt somewhere between 1930-35.
The nearly 40-minute doc, viewers get a cultural and social history of the hoodie, citing references as diverse as E.T, Rocky, Dexys Midnight Runners and Juice and unpicking the stigma associated with the garment.
