Turk Settles $1.3 Million Lawsuit Against Cash Money Records

Rapper Turk has settled a lawsuit against Cash Money Records recently, though terms were not disclosed, reports the New Orleans Advocate.

The rapper (real name: Tab Virgil) sued the company in February, seeking $1.3 million in unpaid royalties.

Turk claimed he was never paid for any he recorded with Cash Money, including solo work and recordings with the group Hot Boys, who sold more than 2 million albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Furthermore, he claims Cash Money never registered 34 songs he wrote or co-wrote with the U.S. Copyright Office -- including his entire solo album, Young & Thuggin' -- which prevented him from collecting royalty payments.

Attorneys for Cash Money never filed any response, even after being given a 30-day extension, so Turk won the lawsuit by default. But last month, he asked U.S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt to dismiss the suit, saying the two parties had reached an amicable settlement.
