With the recent launch of their A-Class, Mercedes-Benz is getting serious in the premium hatchback area as they prep the launch of a new A45 AMG, set to compete with BMW's M135i and Audi's RS3.
According to AutoBlog.com, the new model will boast a transverse 2.0-liter turbo four engine, producing as much as 330 horsepower and over 300 pound-feet of torque. It will also come in all-wheel drive; boast a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, tuned to mimic rear-drive handling characteristics; and enhanced suspension and rolling stock.
As with most AMG models, the A45 AMG also feature an aero body kit.
A specific release date was unknown at press time, but is expected in early 2013.
