Apple's App Store Hits 30 Billion Downloads, Record Revenue Paid Out To Developers :::: Tech News

Apple hit a milestone on Monday (June 11), when it announced that it's App Store has hit the 30 billion number in downloads since its inception four years ago.
According to reports, there are 650,000 apps in the digital store overall, 225,000 of which are specific to the iPad.
Current Apple CEO Tim Cook says: "It's becoming an economy in and of itself."
In 2011, the computer software/hardware giant paid out $2.5 billion to developers, as part of a revenue sharing program. In 2010, that number was $1.5 billion. That's some major growth.

Cook said there were over 400 million accounts on the App Store, which makes it the largest online store with credit card info that "Apple is aware of."
Apple will also add an additional 32 countries will be added to the App Store, bringing the total to 155 countries.
