Ja Rule Explains Why His Gun Charge Led To A Steeper Sentence Than Lil Wayne's

Ja Rule is currently behind bars, serving two years on a 2007 gun charge; and recently called into VladTV where he discussed his sentence in comparison to Lil Wayne's who was busted in NYC the same night as Ja Rule. In the interview, Ja discussed his charges, which led to a two-year prison term. Weezy, on the other hand, got a one year sentence and got out in eight months ... for the same crime. "It's a weird charge," Ja Rule said, referencing the "attempted gun possession" charge that landed him behind bars. "I've never really even heard of this type of charge. I didn't know you could go to jail for attempting to possess a gun." While Ja Rule and Weezy's cases were similar, there was one small detail that made all the difference, and taught the New York rapper that if you're going to get caught with a gun, make sure it's legit. When Weezy was arrested back in 2007, the firearm authorities found on his tour bus had a serial number. Ja Rule ... well, the serial number on his gun was scratched off. "It could have been a lot bigger situation," Ja Rule explained to VladTV. "I ain't mad about the time that I got. I'm just here doing my time. It could have been worse. I'm grateful it's not." Ja Rule was busted in 2007, the same evening as Weezy, after being caught with a handgun, following a performance at New York City's Beacon Theater. Police stopped the rapper for speeding, and during a search of the vehicle, they found a gun. Despite being incarcerated, Ja Rule is prepping the release of his next album, Pain Is Love 2, due in late February.
