Apple Working On Redesigned iPhone For Launch In Fall 2012?

Following the launch of Apple's iPhone 4S in November, the electronics/software company is rumored to already have the next-generation iPhone in the works. According to BGR.com, a close source says the next iPhone will be completely redesigned and will make its debut in the fall of 2012 -- almost a year after the iPhone 4S' release. Although there's been no official announcement, the website says Apple plans to use rubber or plastic material for the new iPhone case. "In all likelihood, this material will be used as a bezel surrounding the front edge of the phone (like the iPhone 3GS bezel) and it will serve two purposes," said BGR.com. BGR reports that the rubber/plastic material will join the glass iPhone face with a new aluminum back plate; and will cover a redesigned antenna system that surrounds the device. This would allow Apple to construct the rear case out of aluminum without having to use a large plastic insert above the antennas as they did with the iPad 2. Other rumored upgrades include an aluminum case like the iPad 2 and a larger display (around 4 inches). The photo (above) is a suggested mockup into the upcoming iPhone. This is sure to be the beginning of months of rumors leading up to the iPhone 5 release. Stay tuned...
